2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: All you need to know

2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: All you need to know

UMW Toyota recently introduced the non-hybrid variant of its popular D-segment sedan, the Camry. Referred to as the Camer 2.5V, it closely follows the launch of the 9th gen Camry Hybrid which took place at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2025.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the 2025 Toyota Camry?

The Camry is powered by a 2.5 liter naturally-aspirated inline-four unit making 204PS and 246 Nm torque. The 2.5HEV, on the other hand, uses the same mill but here it makes 188 PS and 221 Nm along with a 136PS/208Nm 1VM e-motor.
  • How much does the Toyota Camry cost?

The new 2.5V variant retails for RM221,800 on the road without insurance and the 2.5 HEV sells for RM248,800.
  • The non-hybrid Camry is RM27,000 cheaper compared to the hybrid variant, making it interesting to find out what all it has to offer. So, without any delay let’s get started -

    2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: Powertrain

On opening the bonnet, you’ll find a Toyota Dynamic Force mill which specifically is a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre in-line unit serving a maximum power of 204 PS at 6,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 246 Nm from 4,200 to 5,000 rpm. The drive is sent to the front wheels through a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission.

In contrast, the hybrid version gets an A25A-FXS, a hybridized version of the Dynamic Force unit. The 2.5-litre unit here pumps out 188 PS at 6,000 rpm and 221 Nm from 3,600 to 5,200 rpm. The 1VM electric motor generates 136 PS and 208 Nm. The total system output rests at 230 PS. The power is sent to the wheels via an E-CVT with selectable drive modes including Eco, Sport, Normal, and EV.

    Few other powertrain details -

    Fuel Consumption

    15.15 kmpl

    CO2 Emission

    150 g/km

The HEV version, on the other hand, emits much less carbon (91 g/km) and moves a little more on less fuel (25 kmpl).

    2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: Performance

The above-mentioned engine and transmission combo allow the Camry 2.5V to complete the century sprint in just 8.9 seconds and attain a top speed of 210 kmph. We feel these figures are perfect for an urban commuter who likes to have a little fun on the weekends. The hybrid variant is a tad faster when it comes to touching the 100 kmph mark (7.2 seconds), however, the top speed is limited to 180 kmph.

    2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: Braking & handling

Helping the Camry deliver a smooth ride all along is MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and Double Wishbone at the rear. Taking care of braking are Ventilated Disc and Solid Disc at the front and rear end respectively.

Adding to the ride comfort is the Camry’s parallel-axis electric power steering which minimizes the vehicle turning effort to the minimum.

    2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: Exterior

In terms of design, the all-new 9th gen Camry features a completely revised styling which is a perfect blend of elegance and sportiness. The sedan features fresh design language that brings it in line with other new Toyota cars.

At the front, the car features a shark-nose-inspired fascia which Toyota calls a hammerhead shape. Its elongated bonnet features sleek automatic Bi-LED headlights with LED turn signal lamps and integrated C-shaped DRLs. Between the two lighting units sits the Toyota logo.

Moving to the car’s side profile, the Camry continues to showcase a low-slung stance but now with a more sloping and lowered roofline. Not to forget, the profound wheel arches house a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45R18 tyres. The ORVM this time around is auto-retractable, reverse-linked with 2-position memory.

The rear end of the new Camry looks sculpted and sporty. Adding to the sedan’s overall beauty are the new C-pattern rear combination lamps.

    Other features -

    • LED fog lamps (front & rear)
    • Automatic wipers with rear sensor
    • Glass antenna
    • Welcome light

2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V: Interior features

Open the new Camry’s door and you will be greeted by a modern and upmarket cabin with a touch of minimalism. The Malaysian-spec model is offered in a single dual-tone (black and brown) upholstery with metal-finish trim. One of the most noticeable parts is the front passenger-side dashboard that adorns a funky layout mimicking a guitar fretboard design.

A new 12.3-inch dual display setup comprising an all-digital driver’s display and a touchscreen information system takes care of infotainment and entertainment needs. Further, the cabin has several physical buttons and storage compartments.

    Bottom line

The all-new Camry is a welcoming addition to Toyota’s lineup, while the hybrid variant came a bit earlier, the non-hybrid trim made a surprise entry just days before New Year’s Eve. Available for RM 221,800, the 2.5V trim packs almost all the features offered in the 2.5HEV.
