Engine specifications
The plug-in hybrid setup of both 7 Series variants is also the same. Both are powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine which delivers a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The engine is hooked with a 197 PS/280 Nm electric motor that takes the total system power output to 489 PS and total system torque output to 700 Nm.
Sending power to the wheels is an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox which comes paired with an xDrive all-wheel drive system.
The plug-in hybrid setup of the new 7 Series sedan also features a 22.1 kWh battery pack, which lets it run for up to 87 km on a single charge. The latter can be achieved in approx three hours when using an onboard 7.4 kW AC charger.
In terms of performance, the upgraded sedan runs from zero to 100 km in 4.9 seconds and clocks a top speed of 250 kmph. The max speed is limited to 140 kmph when driving in all-electric mode.
