2023 BMW 7 Series: Variant Analysis

The latest generation of the iconic German sedan, the BMW 7 Series, hit Malaysian roads almost a week ago and is poised to captivate local automotive enthusiasts with its striking design and noteworthy innovative technologies. The new 7 Series is being offered in two locally-assembled plug-in hybrid variants here viz. 750e xDrive M Sport and 750e xDrive Pure Excellence. Let's analyse these variants in terms of price, dimensions, engine, and features.

Price 

The variant-wise price list of the all-new 2023 BMW 7 Series is as follows -

The mentioned prices include a five-year extended warranty and service package alongside free roadside assistance, BMW Service Online package, BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App, and BMW Privileges Card.

The above table reveals that the BMW 7 Series variants are identical in terms of measurements.

Engine specifications

The plug-in hybrid setup of both 7 Series variants is also the same. Both are powered by a  3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine which delivers a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The engine is hooked with a 197 PS/280 Nm electric motor that takes the total system power output to 489 PS and total system torque output to 700 Nm.

Sending power to the wheels is an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox which comes paired with an xDrive all-wheel drive system. 

The plug-in hybrid setup of the new 7 Series sedan also features a 22.1 kWh battery pack, which lets it run for up to 87 km on a single charge. The latter can be achieved in approx three hours when using an onboard 7.4 kW AC charger.

In terms of performance, the upgraded sedan runs from zero to 100 km in 4.9 seconds and clocks a top speed of 250 kmph. The max speed is limited to 140 kmph when driving in all-electric mode.

Features 

In terms of aesthetics and features, the two BMW 7 Series variants are slightly different as they feature different wheel designs, front and rear aprons, and interior trims. The M Sport also comes with a massive 31.3-inch Theatre Screen offering a cinema-like entertainment experience to rear passengers. This all-new in-car entertainment display deploys from the roof with different aspect ratios (16:9, 21:9, or 32:9) and has built-in Amazon Fire TV functionality.

In a nutshell, the 2023 BMW 7 Series variants share the same dimensions and powertrain setup, along with most interior and exterior features. However, the M Sport variant offers a few exclusive elements that make it more appealing than the Pure Excellence model.
