Zontes ZT310T1

While Zontes might not be having a design house as rich and experienced as other established bike makers, full marks should be given to its design team for making the ZT310T1 an attractive-looking motorcycle. The Zontes ZT310T1 has the right substance of a proper big adventure tourer, which helps it in giving a striking road presence.

At the front, the Zontes ZT310T1 gets a striking looking V-shaped headlamp assembly, which is a full-LED setup comprising of LED projector headlamps and daytime running LEDs and LED turn indicators integrated on its corners. While there is a large and transparent windshield above the headlamp unit, there is a big beak-shaped fender attached to its lower part. The handlebars do get functional and nice-looking crash guards.

The Zontes ZT310T1 gets a large fuel tank with nicely designed knee recesses and sharp fuel tank extensions, the latter of which neatly merges with the front beak-shaped high fender and has an air vent in between. This whole combination of front beak and fuel tank extensions is surrounded by tubular protectors in a wraparound design. Like a proper adventure tourer, the Zontes ZT310T1 gets a high-mounted exhaust pipe and engine bash plate, though both of them are designed in a very thoughtful and attractive way.

The Zontes ZT310T1 has busy-looking side body panels which connect well with the compact and slim tailpiece. The motorcycle comes with a long and stepped seat, behind which there is a large and very functional pannier holder finished in the alloy. Just below this alloy pannier holder and at the back of the tailpiece sits a nice-looking inverted U-shaped LED tail lamp. The LED turn indicators are mounted on the extended rear fender.

Another highlight of the Zontes ZT310T1 which looks cool and very present-day is its full-TFT instrument console. This rectangular unit reads out information of speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, gear indicator, trip meters, odometer, and other crucial data. The motorcycle is offered with both the choices of spoke wheels and five-spoke alloy wheels to choose from.

Matching its aggressive and cutting-edge design, the Zontes ZT310T1 gets a premium suspension setup of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a fully-adjustable mono-shock at the back. While the spoke wheel version runs on a 19-inch front wheel, the alloy wheels version gets a 17-inch alloy wheel. However, the rear wheel is a 17-inch unit in both versions. However, both versions come with radial tubeless tyres as standard. The bike gets a braking combination of a 310mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the back.

The Zontes ZT310T1 is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 312cc engine developed wholly by Zontes. Coupled with a 6-speed gearbox, the engine pumps out a maximum power output of 35 PS and a peak torque output of 30 Nm. The engine feels powerful for its size, but the rider may face vibrations while riding at higher RPMs.

The only two safety essentials which are present in the Zontes ZT310T1 are a dual-channel ABS and a slip and assist clutch.

The Zontes ZT310T1 impresses massively with its urban and futuristic design, which blends in the traditional design ethos of a proper adventure tourer very effectively. While the mechanical specs do look promising on the paper, they lack the top-notch finesse of other Japanese motorcycles from even one segment below it, in terms of quality and long-term reliability.
