Triumph Tiger 900

The Triumph Tiger 900 is the only model in the entire Tiger 900 family of adventure tourers, which does not come with any form of body decals or flashy colour options. This simplistic appeal to the overall design of the Triumph Tiger 900 makes it look even more mature and a sorted motorcycle.

At the front, the Triumph Tiger 900 gets a small all-LED headlamp, which has been shaped to make it look like the wings of a butterfly. The headlamps are well-complemented with the presence of a tall and transparent windscreen, which is non-adjustable. The headlamp gets black-coloured clamps on either side, which serve as mounts for the LED turn indicators.

The Triumph Tiger 900 looks tall and beefy when viewed from the sides, with the huge fuel tank catching the attention of the viewers. The fuel tank is devoid of any kind of body decals and is complemented by a large and broad Y-shaped tank extension. Apart from these panels, the side profile looks completely stripped out, with the long tubular trellis frame of the motorcycle completely visible in its complete form running over the engine. The engine and the multi-spoke alloy wheels are finished in black, with the former getting a slim cowl under it.

While moving towards the rear, the Triumph Tiger 900 impresses one with its sheer size. The rear side body panels are also non-existent, and the sub-frame sharply rises towards the tail section of the motorcycle. The tail section here looks compact and has a low-mounted LED tail lamp with LED turn indicators mounted above it.

The Triumph Tiger 900 shares its rider’s cockpit with the Tiger 850 Sport and has a rather smaller 5-inch full TFT instrument console taking the center stage. This unit is super informative with all the essential data displayed in a colourful and crisp layout. The switchgear and rearview mirrors are premium and truly justify the premium appeal of the overall motorcycle. The Triumph Tiger 900 comes with split seats, however, they are set at a taller height which might trouble shorter riders.

The virtue of long-distance touring on the Triumph Tiger 900 is fueled even more with a plush setting for the suspension combination of 45mm non-adjustable Marzocchi upside-down telescopic forks at the front and Marzocchi mono-shock with manual preload adjustment at the rear. With dual 320mm discs at the front and a single 255mm disc at the back, the Triumph Tiger 900 gets enough stopping power as well.

The Triumph Tiger 900 shares its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder, 888cc engine with the rest of the variants of the Tiger 900 range. Coupled with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine can produce a maximum power output of 95.2 PS, while the peak torque output of the motorcycle is rated at 87 Nm. The engine feels refined and torquey across the entire rev range, thus making it a fantastic motorcycle for long-distance touring.

Being an entry-level model in the Tiger 900 lineup, the Triumph Tiger 900 misses out on several features which do make this range one of the most premium bikes money can buy in the middleweight segment. However, it is packed with essentials like dual-channel ABS, traction control and two riding modes.

The Triumph Tiger 900 might be the simplest looking version of the Tiger 900 range of motorcycles. However, for the price, it offers the same lean and intimidating stance of a proper adventure tourer, a punchy inline-three engine and comfortable ride quality, all of which make its big bike experience very lovable.
