SM Sport 110 R

While the SM Sport 110R asks one for a lower price, it doesn’t feel like a compromise made in terms of the way it looks and feels in a whole. The SM Sport 110R has a tall and sleek design, which with the sporty graphics, feels quite youthful to look at.

The SM Sport 110R has a slim bodywork at the front, comprising of a compact handlebar cowl having a simple looking crown-shaped headlamp accompanied by small creases on its either side and a compact front apron below it. This front apron has pointy upper corners and has a V-shaped design flowing in a well-contoured manner. The upper central portion of the front apron has been given a black theme, while the lower side edges are well covered by sleek-looking daytime running LEDs. 

While moving downwards, the lower side body panels at the front look neat with their zig-zag design and come fitted with small and vertically laid LED blinkers in them at their top. The design for the five-spoke black finished alloy wheels might look too simple for anyone’s taste, however, the side body panels below the seat have a busy and crisp design with a lot of character lines flowing through them. The engine, as well as exhaust pipe too, is finished in an all-black theme, with the latter getting a silver finished tip at its end and faux carbon fiber cover over it.

The rear side body panels flow in a wide theme and end up in a big tail lamp assembly, which has a long fender attached to it. This fender comes fitted with separate LED blinkers on its either side. The single long seat is well stepped and padded and has an impressively big under-seat storage compartment below it. The instrument console of the SM Sport 110R too looks nice with its partitioned design and silver-finished theme around all the partitions. While a big analog speedometer and analog gear indicator sits in the main partition in the centre, there are two small partitions accompanying it on its lower edges, with one having an analog fuel gauge and the other having basic warning lights.

The SM Sport 110R has been equipped with a basic chassis setup, which has hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and double sides hydraulic coil springs at the back. The tall 17-inch wheels, shod with 70/90-17 tire at the front and 80/90-17 tire at the rear, do give it decent on-road manners in the form of agile handling and stability. A petal disc brake at the front is a nice touch, while a drum brake at the rear does a fine job too in bringing the moped to a halt.

Powering the SM Sport 110R is a small and compact single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled, carbureted, 109cc engine paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox. This engine puts up quite decent numbers while on the go – 6.5 PS of maximum power and 7 Nm of maximum torque. While these figures are neither segment-leading nor enticing enough to match its sporty visual appeal, the heavy kerb weight of 105 kg further makes the performance a bit more sluggish.  

While the SM Sport 110R is not a heavily equipped scooter in terms of safety, it is packed with decent add-ons like a key shutter mechanism for the ignition keyhole and petal front disc brake.

The youthful and slim bodywork of the SM Sport 110R is its main positive point, which should definitely work in making it a decently popular moped among younger riders. However, the inconsistent quality levels and low-performance numbers leave some room for improvement.
