Daiichi Megelli 250 SR Design

Daiichi has smartly played with the colour schemes of the Megelli 250SR, as both the red and white colour options of the motorcycle go well with the contrast red-coloured tubular frame members and swing arm. These red highlights do make the motorcycle command attention, but a closer inspection reveals that not everything is good with the design. The overall look of the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR is a bit disproportionate, with the motorcycle having a dated appeal with old-school bits.

At the front, the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR gets a slightly weird-looking front fascia, which has a rakish front cowl coming integrated with a sloping halogen headlamp and triangular faux air vents to its side. While this front fascia looks very different from that of the other motorcycles, it looks a bit odd and out of place. The LED turn indicators are mounted on the lower corners of this front fascia, while the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR also gets a stylish front fender with sharp creases.

It is the side profile of the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR which commands attention, thanks to the red-coloured trellis frame member. The motorcycle also gets a unique tubular swing-arm for the rear wheel, which too is painted in a theme of red. Daiichi has tried to make the motorcycle look even more stylish with a sleek-looking fuel tank with long knee recesses and large side cowls for the radiator mounted ahead of the engine.

The tail section of the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR looks stylish and sporty, with the high-rising floating section having a split seat arrangement over it. The rider’s seat also comes with hollows on either side within the tail section, which adds a sense of style to the motorcycle. However, the most prominent highlight of the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR is its rear look, which includes a high-mounted LED tail lamp and an under-seat exhaust channel with two pipes pointing rearwards. With this, the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR is now one of the very few motorcycles in the world to get under-seat exhausts.

The rider’s cockpit of the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR consists of a dated-looking LCD panel displaying a speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, and gear indicator, and an analog tachometer with white background. The fit and finish levels are not up to the market, which makes the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR a poorly finished product in the end.

Megelli 250 SR Ride & Handling

The Daiichi Megelli 250 SR comes equipped with a conventional pair of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front, however, at the rear, it gets a state-of-the-art tubular trellis swing-arm with mono-shock. The ride quality is on the decent side, while the low kerb weight allows the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR to be nimble while riding. The motorcycle also gets petal disc brakes at both ends. Weighing at 122 kg, the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR has a seat height of 800mm and rides on 100/70-17 front and 130/70-17 rear tyres.

Daiichi Megelli 250 SR Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Daiichi Megelli 250 SR gets a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 249.6cc engine, which comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox and produces 26 hp of maximum power and 22.8 Nm of maximum torque. While the engine claims promising numbers, the overall refinement and power delivery leave a lot to be desired.

Megelli 250 SR Braking & Safety

The Daiichi Megelli 250 SR, unfortunately, skips on all the essential features to keep the costs down, and it doesn’t get even an ABS.

Daiichi Megelli 250 SR Verdict

While Daiichi tried its best to make the Megelli 250 SR a sharp-looking motorcycle, the attempt proved to be a half-hearted one. There are a few attention-grabbing elements, but the motorcycle is let down by disproportionate dimensions, poor fit and finish levels, and questionable reliability of its mechanicals. However, for the price point at which it is offered, the Daiichi Megelli 250 SR is a decent motorcycle for the performance it offers.
