Kawasaki Versys-X 250 Review 2024
The Versys X-250 might be the smallest motorcycle in the Versys lineup of adventure motorcycles from Kawasaki. However, one thing it doesn’t lack at all is the character, as it has this particular aspect in abundance. Sharing its powertrain with the Ninja 250 and Z250, the Versys X-250 has a lot more on offer than just the heightened stance. Available in just one color shade of green, the Versys X-250 is priced at RM 22,444.

Kawasaki Versys-X 250 Design
The Versys X-250 comes with a nice height and tall stance, which makes it look bigger than most of the 250 cc motorcycles available in the market right now. However, the overall styling is quite plain and less flashy, which might not go right with the current breed of youngsters.
At the front, the Versys X-250 has been blessed with a single trapezoidal headlamp, which in isolation, is a bit small in size, thus making the front fascia less appealing. However, the fake air vents in the lower corners of the front fairing, as well as the tall and transparent windscreen, adds some character to the otherwise plain looking face of the motorcycle.
On the sides, the Versys X-250 impresses you with its tall stance, high mounted and slim fuel tank sharp and wide silver finished fuel tank extensions. These fuel tank extensions positioned between the fuel tank and the semi-front fairing adds some muscle to the otherwise slim looking motorcycle. The motorcycle has also got some more silver finish on the side body cowls, which make it look premium. The single piece exhaust pipe lifted off from the Ninja 300 looks a bit out of place here, in our opinion.
At the rear, the Versys X-250 has got a simple looking tailpiece with a small tail lamp nestled at the centre. The bike comes with functional grab rails with flat pannier holders and large and accommodating single piece seat to give it a go-anywhere feel. The simple looking aluminium finished spoke rims look very cool on the Versys X-250.
Coming the instrument console, the Versys X-250 shares its meters with the Ninja 650, which in our opinion, is the most comprehensive and beautiful looking part-digital meters out there. The single piece handlebar as well as angular rear view mirrors are positioned spot-on, thus keeping the ergonomics on track.
Versys-X 250 Ride & Handling
It is this particular department where the gap between the Versys X-250 and other quarter litre motorcycles from Kawasaki widens in terms of feel. The Versys X-250 comes equipped with 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and Bottom-Link Uni-Trak, gas-charged shock and adjustable preload at the rear, which is tuned on a rather softer side.
The motorcycle comes with a larger 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, which aid a lot in making the Versys X-250 stable in all conditions. However, the softer compound tyres don’t complement the personality of the motorcycle, and we do wish that it is offered with more off-road spec tyres. For braking purposes, the Versys X-250 comes equipped with 290 mm petal disc at the front and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear.
Kawasaki Versys-X 250 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the Versys X-250 is the same four-stroke, liquid-cooled, parallel twin, 249 cc motor, which powers the Ninja 250 as well as Z250 too. Here also, the engine has been set on the same state of tune, which means that the mill produces 34 PS of maximum power and 21.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, which comes with revised taller ratios to make the most out of the meaty midrange and bottom end grunt.
Versys-X 250 Braking & Safety
The Kawasaki Versys X-250 comes with slip and assist clutch on offer, however, the lack of ABS is a topic of concern here.
Kawasaki Versys-X 250 Verdict
The Kawasaki Versys X-250 impresses you with its simplicity and dynamism of its chassis, which makes it a good learner’s bike. Also, it is a good pick for those who wish to upgrade to a bigger adventure motorcycle. The proven mechanicals of Kawasaki, as well as spot-on ergonomics, make sure that the Versys X-250 stands out as one of the most practical quarter litre motorcycles on sale in the market.
