BMW i4 M50

Much like its exterior, the cabin layout of the BMW i4 M50 offers a fine balance of luxury and futuristic appeal. The cabin can be had either with all-black leather upholstery with contrast blue stitching or a dual-tone Cognac Brown with a black layout. The only trim offered in the BMW i4 M50 is a carbon fibre finish between the two layers of the dashboard.

The highlight of the new-age cabin of the BMW i4 M50 is the wide and cool-looking cockpit, which comes integrated with a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel has been retained from the current 4-Series Gran Coupe. The lower centre console of the BMW i4 M50’s interior is slightly tilted towards the driver and features a hexagonal panel for the AC vents and slim-looking switches for various functions.

Wearing the latest design language of BMW, the i4 M50 looks more aggressive and futuristic than the 4-Series on which it is based. While the huge, vertically-laid closed grille design might take some time to get used to, there are no denying facts that this is an attention-grabbing sedan.

Continuing the discussion of the design of the grille of the BMW i4 M50, it has a theme of studded inserts spread across it. Even the front bumper of the BMW i4 M50 goes in sync with the aerodynamic appeal of the overall design, with it featuring sharp-looking air inlets integrated into the edges.

The side profile of the BMW i4 M50 has a sleek and long stance like a traditional 3- or 4-series. For the Malaysian car market, the i4 M50 comes standard with 20-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic alloy wheels, which aid in performance while making the car look sporty. The long bonnet, flap-type door handles and coupe-like roofline of the i4 M50 are the traits which make it look new-age and properly sporty.

The sense of classiness and futurism in one single package can be seen even at the rear of the i4 M50, with this all-electric sedan getting new-age LED tail lamps. Stretching towards the outer sides, the i4 M50’s tail lamps have a combination design, the inner parts of which are integrated into the boot lid of the car. BMW has added a carbon fibre finish for the boot-mounted slim spoiler and rear diffuser.

For a fine, thrilling driving experience, the BMW i4 M50 gets an M Sport suspension and variable sport steering, which are further assisted by M Sport brakes and a rear-biased powertrain setup. All these factors contribute to making the BMW i4 M50 a fine experience behind its steering wheel.

In this full-blown M50 version, the BMW i4 M50 comes with a dual-motor setup, one each at both front and rear. While the front-mounted motor produces 230 kW, the rear motor develops 190 kW, resulting in a combined power output of 544 bhp. The BMW i4 M50 is a quick car with an acceleration figure of 0-100 kmph in 3.9 seconds. BMW claims a maximum range of up to 510 km on a full charge from its 83.9 kWh battery.

Apart from a whole suite of ADAS features, the BMW i4 M50 also gets basics done right, with essential features like airbags all around, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, electronic stability control, traction control and hill start assist.
