Official Triumph Tiger 1200 prototype images revealed, to be launched soon

KUALA LUMPUR: The flagship adventure motorcycle from Triumph, the Tiger 1200, has been missing from the action for a long time now. However, a series of official teaser images uploaded Triumph on its social media handles signals a soon arrival of the motorcycle with all the guns ablaze. The British motorcycle maker showcased a camouflaged prototype of the Triumph Tiger 120r, giving several hints about the upcoming 1200s look and features.

The new Triumph Tiger 1200 is being termed as a transformation model by Triumph in the world of adventure motorcycles, which promises to come with best-in-class features and equipment. The new Triumph Tiger 1200 looks a bit slimmer than the motorcycle it will be replacing and draws inspiration from the smaller Tiger 900 models. However, expect the Tiger 1200 to have bigger dimensions than the Tiger 900.

While the powertrain details about the Triumph Tiger 1200 have been kept under wraps, expect the motorcycle to retain the inline-three cylinder configuration for its expected 1200cc engine. The motorcycle is supposed to have power and torque outputs of 150 PS and 125 Nm respectively.

As it is clear from the prototype images, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 will retain some of the mechanical bits of the previous model, including upside-down telescopic forks, fully adjustable mono-shock, trellis frame with a bolt-on sub-frame and a shaft drive. Even the disc brake setup of radially mounted Brembo four-piston callipers at the front and a Brembo calliper on the rear wheel is evident from the images, however, the size of the discs involved is not clear.

The official images of the Triumph Tiger 1200 prototype also reveal that the motorcycle is equipped with a 21-inch spoked wheel at the front and an 18-inch spoked wheel at the rear, both of which come wrapped over with Metzeler Tourance off-road tyres.

Being the supposed flagship model in the Tiger range, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 will be bestowed with features like all LED lighting, a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support, heated seats and grips and semi-electronically adjustable suspension setup and seat height as standard.

Once launched, the new Triumph Tiger 1200 will take on the likes of other flagship adventure motorcycles like BMW R1250 GS, Ducati Multistrada V4, KTM 1290 Super Adventure, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and Kawasaki Versys 1000.
