Meet Malaysia's first Adventure-Touring Crossover scooter, the Aveta Vanguard 250

KUALA LUMPUR: The national bike maker, Aveta, has launched the all-new Vanguard 250, touted as Malaysia's first Adventure-Touring Crossover (ATC) scooter. It is offered in two versions - Standard and SE, priced at RM 14,488 and RM 16,388, respectively. 

So, what is ATC? Well, it is a combination of adventure and maxi-scooter, perfect for urban roads as well as off-road challenges. 

Aveta Vanguard 250: Key highlights

Platform

The new Aveta scooter is based on the Piaggio Nexus 250 platform. It underwent a comprehensive 20,000 km endurance test on Malaysian roads, which ensured the vehicle’s reliability and adaptability.

Engine

Powering the Aveta Vanguard is a 244.2-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine fed by Bosch electronic fuel injection system. The said mill generates a maximum power of 24.8 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 22.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a CVT gearbox and belt drive.

Suspension

The scooter features a robust suspension setup that promises maximum stability and comfort on all terrains. The standard trim comes with 33 mm diameter telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The SE variant, on the contrary, is fitted with 37 mm diameter forks and twin shock absorbers mated to remote gas reservoirs.

Braking

As for braking, the customers get a 260 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc with floating callipers as the standard fitment. Also part of the standard kit are two-channel ABS and traction control system. Differentiating the SE trim is an opposed four-piston calliper at the front and a two-piston calliper at the rear. 

Instrument cluster

Offering riders all driving-related information is a 7-inch TFT-LCD display that supports smartphone mirroring via the Aveta app. Notably, the Standard variant features a simpler monochrome LCD display.
