Check out the 500 unit limited KTM 1290 Super Duke RR

KUALA LUMPUR: Please welcome the 500 unit limited-edition 2021 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR. It comes with the moniker ‘The Beast’ and is known to be a lighter and more focused motorcycle. The limited-run Super Duke is made available for Europe via online mode. As for the Malaysian customers, we would say contact the KTM Malaysia distributor, Eurowheels.

So, what all is on offer? Starting with its weight, the naked sports is 9 kg lighter compared to the original Super Duke, i.e., 186 kg dry. This intense weight reduction was possible due to use of carbon-fibre for bodywork and earlier used steel trellis unit replaced by sub-frame.
Further, helping in the weight reduction process is the use of alloy wheels (saving 1.5 kg) and lithium-ion battery (cutting-off 2.5 kg).

The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR features a redesigned sub-frame that allows for the incorporation of a new seat and tail lamp. Speaking of the latter, it includes LED lighting units like the turn indicators.

What powers the limited-edition KTM 1290 Super Duke RR?

The Super Duke RR is powered by the brand’s 1,301-cc V-twin Euro 5 compliant powertrain that pumps out a maximum power of 180 hp along with a peak torque of 140 Nm. The KTM press release also reveals that the limited-edition model has a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.

Suspension duties at the front are carried over by WP with fully adjustable WP Apex Pro 7548 Close Cartridge forks, it is paired to a WP Apex Pro 7117 steering damper for enhanced high-speed stability. At the rear, there is a WP Apex Pro 7746 mono-shock that is fully adjustable and custom-made for the bike.

The Super Duke RR offered a quick thrust with a 65 degree opening, i.e., 7 less than the Super Duke R. Other upgrades in the electronics suite include Track and all-new Performance modes with adjustment for throttle response, rear-wheels slip, Motor Slip Regulation, and Launch Control.

KTM is also offering the Super Duke RR with an exclusive range of accessories from the KTM Powerparts catalogue. Like the Akrapovic Evolution titanium full exhaust system and titanium Akrapovic slip-on end can.
