BMW Malaysia launches three new bikes

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad Malaysia at the BMW Motorrad Nightfuel launched three new bikes - 2019 BMW Motorrad F 850 GS Adventure, R 1250 GS Adventure, and R 1250 GS. The said event took place at the Sungai Besi Air Force base and saw the presence of the company's top officials along with select media personal.

Price details of the new BMW bikes -

• 2019 BMW Motorrad F 850 GS Adventure - RM 88,500
• 2019 BMW Motorrad R 1250 GS - RM 116,500
• 2019 BMW Motorrad R 1250 GS Adventure - RM 125,500

When compared to the F 850 GS, the F 850 GS Adventure is taller, and it is powered by an 853 cc parallel-twin mill that is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The said engine generates a maximum power of 95 hp at 8,250 rpm along with a peak torque of 92 Nm at 6,250 rpm.

Many elements help differentiate between the F 859 GS and F 850 GS Adventure. The later includes fairing from the front cowl to the bottom of the engine, textured seat, engine guards, wider footpegs (they fold if the bike gets dropped), and adjustable windshield.

The BMW F 850 GS Adventure specs sheet includes - LED lighting, 21-inch front, and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, Automatic Stability Control, TFT-LCD instrument panel, and ABS. Brembo handles braking duty with the front getting two-piston callipers and rear single-piston calliper with fuel carried in a 23-litre tank.

The BMW R 1250 S is powered by a 1,254cc boxer mill that comes with ShiftCam that the company claims to offer better mileage and reduced emission. The roller chain and twin-jet injectors seen in the previous version are replaced by toothed cam chain. Thus, helping the mill to produce 136 hp at 7,750 rpm and 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm.

The R 1250 GS specs kit includes the following standard features - two riding modes – Road and Rain, Dynamic ESA electronic suspension, BMW’s Keyless Ride, cruise control,6.5-inch TFT-LCD screen, and a quick-shifter.

As for R 1250 GS taller sibling, the R 1250 GS Adventure comes with rear metal luggage rack, additional engine protection bars and side panels, and a 30-litre fuel tank.
