2024 Suzuki Burgman Street EX and Avenis launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Suzuki Malaysia has added two compact scooters to its lineup - the Burgman Street EX and the Avenis. Earlier previewed at the Kuala Lumpur Bike Show 2023, the new Suzuki models set a new standard of elegance and performance in the compact scooter category and cater to the dynamic lifestyles of young riders.

Let’s know both models in detail, starting with the Suzuki Avenis.

2024 Suzuki Avenis

Dubbed as the “The Urban Arrow,” the Avenis is designed for commuters seeking a perfect balance of performance, convenience, and cutting-edge technology. It sports an apron-mounted LED headlight, sharp body panels, LED tail light, and a compact LCD screen with an intuitively designed layout, offering riders hassle-free navigation.

With its active 'on-the-go' concept, it comes equipped with an external hinge-type fuel cap conveniently positioned at the rear, behind the seats. With a 5.2-litre fuel tank capacity, this scooter minimises the need for frequent refuelling stops, ensuring uninterrupted journeys.

The scooter features a short wheelbase chassis paired with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels, wrapped with 90/90-section and 90/100-section rubbers. The under-seat storage compartment measures 21.5 litres and comes with two utility hooks.

Powering the all-new Suzuki Avenis is a 125-cc single-cylinder SOHC air-cooled Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine that kicks out a maximum power of 8.58 hp at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 10 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

Suzuki Malaysia offers the Avenis in a range of vibrant colours, including Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey with Metallic Lush Green, Metallic Matte Black with Glass Sparkle Black, and the special Metallic Sonic Silver with Triton Blue 'GP Edition', adorned with Suzuki racing graphics to appeal to racing enthusiasts.

The standard Suzuki Avenis is priced at RM 6,980 while the Suzuki Avenis Edition retails at RM 7,200 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration).

2024 Suzuki Burgman Street EX 

Touted as the “The Elegant Performer,” the Suzuki Burgman Street EX is a premium compact scooter that comes with elegant styling and utility features. It boasts LED lighting all around, a digital speedometer, a compact body mount windscreen, rich bodywork and red stitching on the seat.

The scooter has a longer wheelbase ensuring exceptional stability and a comfortable riding experience even on longer journeys. The extended floorboards offer riders the flexibility to adjust their foot positions, while the front footboards allow comfortable leg extension.

As for storage, it offers a generous under-seat storage capacity of 21.5 litres. It also features a closable front compartment equipped with a USB charging port and a best-in-class 5.5-litre fuel tank capacity.

The Burgman Street is powered by a 125-cc air-cooled, SOHC Suzuki Eco Performance-Alpha (SEP-α) engine tuned to deliver the same levels of output as the Avenis. However, here you also get the Engine Auto Stop-Start and Suzuki Silent Starter systems. The Engine Auto Stop-Start conserves fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when the scooter comes to a stop, while the Suzuki Silent Starter System ensures smooth and quiet engine restarts, enhancing the overall rider experience.

Priced at RM 7,500 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration), the 2024 Suzuki Burgman Street EX is available in two shades - Pearl Moon Stone Gray and Metallic Mat Black variants.

Both scooters are now available at all Suzuki dealerships nationwide.
