2023 BMW S 1000 RR delivery temporarily on hold; here’s why

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad has put on hold the sales of the much-anticipated 2023 BMW S1000RR superbike. The announcement was made by the German motorcycle manufacturer recently and involves a technical campaign.

The reason? Well as per the automaker’s official statement, a few S1000RR motorcycles with milled levers will get a new brake lever pin.

BMW Motorrad has reassured its customers that while the upgrade might take some time they will receive the units soon. In its official statement, the company also mentioned that the new models will have the new part fitted in the upcoming weeks, before getting delivered to the customers.

The said technical campaign is BMW’s way to ensure its product's full safety and reliability. As the company has always provided its customers with top-quality products and services and the recent move is a testament to that long-standing commitment.

As for the owners of the affected S1000RR, they are advised by BMW Motorrad to contact their nearest dealer for more information on the upgrade that needs to be done as soon as possible.

In Malaysia, the S1000RR arrived back in 2020 and it retails for RM 116,500 (excludes insurance). Powering the motorcycle is a 999cc unit churning out a maximum output of 207 hp at 13,000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm.
