2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC, XE, and Steve McQueen special edition revealed

2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC, XE, and Steve McQueen special edition revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The Triumph Scrambler 1200 filled to the edge with technology and features offered a fresh take on the standard Scrambler when it was first introduced in 2018. And, now after almost three of existence, it gets updates for the 2021 model year. This time, Triumph also rolled out a special edition, the Steve McQueen, alongside the updated XC and XE trims. Based on the higher-spec XE, this special Scrambler 1200 is limited to 1000 units only.

At the core, all the 2021 Scrambler 1200 models feature the updated Euro 5 parallel liquid-cooled 1200-cc engine with lower emissions, With a high compression cylinder head, and a dedicated Scrambler tune, the new engine kicks out a maximum power of 90 bhp at a lower 7,250 rpm and a peak torque of 110 Nm at just 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to the same six-speed transmission with an assist clutch; however, the fuel consumption has been improved to 4.6 litres per 100 km.

For the unique Scrambler sound, the bikes can also be paired with a twin high-level exhaust system that has also been updated for Euro 5 compliance and has improved heat distribution.

In terms of standard equipment, all new Scrambler 1200 trims have LED lighting front and rear, long-travel aluminum swingarm, illuminated switches, coloured TFT instrument cluster, keyless ignition, USB charging port, and cruise control. Added to the list are multiple riding modes, fully adjustable Öhlins long-travel rear suspension and Showa USD forks, and twin Brembo M50 calipers along with ABS.

Design-wise, the 2021 Scrambler 1200 XC and XE get the same elements wrapped in new colour schemes, including Cobalt Blue with a Jet Black stripe, Matt Khaki Green with a Jet Black stripe, and a single tone Sapphire Black.

Speaking about the design of the Steve McQueen edition, the special trim boasts Steve McQueen branding on the bike’s handlebar clamp and fuel tank and also gets a customised green colour scheme. Edition-specific accessories include brushed aluminum bits, extra crash protection covers, a pressed aluminum radiator guard, and a brown bench seat. It will also have a badge showing its serial number. On purchase of this special edition Scrambler 1200, the buyer will also get a certificate of authenticity signed by Triumph’s CEO, Nick Bloor, and Chad McQueen.

All the 2021 Scrambler 1200 models will hit the European showrooms in June this year, priced at £11,800 (RM 67,100) for the XC, £12,600 (RM 71,649) for the XE, and £13,600 (RM 77,336) for the Steve McQueen Edition.
