Brixton BX 150 X

The Brixton BX150X is purposely a retro-themed motorcycle, which is very much evident in the way it looks. The overall design looks very simple, and while some people will appreciate its simplicity, the feel of a special retro flavour is somehow missing in its overall design, as it looks too plain. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the Brixton BX150X is a proper retro motorcycle.

At the front, the simplicity of the Brixton BX150X is very much reflected in its rounded halogen headlamp and the tiny rounded LED turn indicators, which complete its front fascia. The motorcycle doesn’t get any other panel or design bit apart from this face, except a long and curved basic-looking front fender – chrome-finished in Dark Green colour option and body-coloured in Black colour option.

The Brixton BX150X has a very basic appeal when you view it from the side. The fuel tank looks utilitarian but gets decent knee recesses for even taller riders. There is a trapezoidal side body panel placed between the V-shaped parts of the tubular frame behind the engine, which is finished in a theme of black. Along with the engine, the spoke wheels of the Brixton BX150X are also finished in black. The retro flavour is at its best in the long and well-padded seat of the motorcycle, which is tan-coloured and slightly raises at the back.

The Brixton BX150X has a very simple-looking rear end, with the motorcycle missing out on proper side body panels and getting a tiny rear fender, on which the small rounded tail lamp and turn indicators of the motorcycle are mounted. The motorcycle also gets long tubular grab rails on either side of the pillion seat, which are finished in chrome.

The Brixton BX150X gets a compact and rounded part-digital instrument console, which matches the overall old-school flavour of the motorcycle. This unit packs in an analogue speedometer and a small LCD screen in its lower portion, which reads out the odometer. This instrument console gets the ignition keyhole to its left and a USB charger to its right.

It is where the Brixton BX150X shines out with its easy-to-ride demeanour. The motorcycle has a very conventional suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic coil springs with a tubular swingarm at the rear. The light kerb weight of 157 kg makes the Brixton BX150X easy to ride at lower city speeds. The 100/90-18 front and 120/80-17 rear tube-type tyres offer a decent amount of grip at lower speeds. For a motorcycle as entry-level as the Brixton BX150X, the presence of disc brakes at both ends is appreciable.

The Brixton BX150X is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected, 149cc engine, which is one of the smallest engines from the family of Brixton motorcycles. This engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and produces 11.8 PS of maximum power and 11.9 Nm of maximum torque. For a 150cc motorcycle, the Brixton BX150X feels a bit low on power and is best ridable at lower city speeds, as the motorcycle begs for power at higher RPMs.

The old-school flavour of the Brixton BX150X is very much apparent in its list of features as well. The motorcycle doesn’t get any notable premium safety features, even the ABS. However, it gets a covered USB charger beside the instrument console.

The Brixton BX150X comes across as a fairly basic retro motorcycle, which might be lacking on the innovation part, but impresses as a decent motorcycle for your daily riding errands
