The engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission that gets a hydraulic single dry plate clutch system. Along with that, the large fuel tank makes for longer riding distances without having to refuel. This motorcycle gets a 17-litre fuel tank with a 3-litre reserve. The R Nine T Scrambler, according to BMW, has a fuel efficiency of 5.3 litres per 100 km.

The classic look and theme of the bike does not mean that the R Nine T Scrambler misses out on any of the modern features. The bike gets the special BMW Motorrad ABS which is a really efficient system and can offer excellent braking capabilities to this motorcycle. With ABS, both the wheels get disc brakes, the front wheel gets twin disc brakes and the rear gets a single disc brake.

As for other basic safety features, the bike gets a pass switch and side reflectors for safer night rides and an engine check light to ensure the proper maintenance of the engine.
