VW Malaysia teases the new 2.0 TSI Passat Elegance
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has uploaded an image of the new Passat on their website, which can also be cited as the beginning of the teasing game. The image shows the car’s headlamp with LED daytime running lights and states “Get for an upgrade” followed by the identification “The new Passat 2.0TSI Elegance.”
A few days back, the car was spotted on a transporter which gives us a good idea of how it will look. The new Passat Elegance features a new bumper, revamped front grille, sleeker LED matrix headlamps, angular fog lamp sections, 18-inch alloys. Some of the modifications at the rear include revised bumper with new exhausts, now get a trapezoidal shape and new pair of LED taillights.
We are currently not aware of what the interiors will embrace as no spy shots have surfaced online. A new infotainment system is highly anticipated to be present inside though. It would be interesting to see which one the company includes on the Malaysia-spec Passat. We’d love to see the 9.2-inch Discover pro system with navigation.
At the core, the new Passat Elegance will boast a 2.0-litre TSI engine expected to churn out a max power of 190 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm, mated to a 7-speed wet-clutch DSG. The previous Passat model in Malaysia was powered by a 1.8-litre TSI that was coupled with a 7-speed dry-clutch DSG.
The launch is unknown as we are still looking to hear an official statement from the company officials. The website, however, features a registration of interest tab for customers to sign up for updates about bookings, whenever they open.
