VW Arteon R-Line Edition introduced in the European market

KUALA LUMPUR: A fancier version of the Arteon has been launched in Europe. Christened as the Arteon R-Line Edition, it is similar to the fully loaded version of the Passat Variant R-Line Edition that was introduced nearly a year ago.

Being a limited edition model, only 250 units of the Arteon R-Line will be produced for the European market. On the outside, the stylish fastback gets a dual-tone look, with black roof and an attractive Moonstone Grey paint. The rear windows come tinted for extra privacy and greater visual impact.

Further accentuating its outside appeal are components like 20-inch Rosario black alloys, black highlights on the front bumper, black door-mounted ORVMs with turn signals and sleek-looking LED headlamps with daytime running lights. On the sides you see the black strip running all the way from front wheels to the rear. This strip further moves around the rear bumper, which also gets chrome-garnished outlets. To complete the rea profile, there are wrap-around LED taillights and the brand’s emblem in the centre.

As standard, the cabin gets the plush Nappa leather and digital instrument cluster. While the top-spec variant gets benefitted in the form of Volkswagen kit that includes adaptive LED headlamps, keyless access, front and rear heated seats and top-notch infotainment system.

On the safety front, it gets Park Assist, autonomous emergency braking, road sign detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane change assist.

At the heart, the new VW Arteon R-Line Edition will be powered by 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines, both mated to a 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine will come equipped with a pair of turbochargers and 4Motion AWD system. While the petrol TSI engine will be good for 272 PS, the diesel engine will produce 239 PS. The car will also feature adaptive chassis control with adjustable dampers for better comfort and selectable options.

The company has already started to take orders in Germany where the VW Arteon R-Line Edition is priced from €55,970 (RM 255,764 approx) for the base gasoline trim.
