VPCM launches the all-new Golf GTI with IQ. Drive system

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Golf GTI has always been a beloved car among car enthusiasts in Malaysia. To keep up with ever-evolving customers' needs and market trends, the automaker has updated this premium hot hatchback with advanced driver assistance technologies and a few other modifications inside and out. 

The all-new 2023 Volkswagen Golf GTI now comes with the Volkswagen IQ. Drive ADAS suite. The pack comprises a list of advanced safety gears ensuring a safer and more convenient ride to the occupants. These include -

• Travel Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control which uses radar and other sensors to detect vehicles running ahead
• Side Assist which works as an active blind spot monitor
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert which gets activated when the reverse gear is engaged and warns drivers of potential danger  
• Front Assist (Autonomous Emergency Braking) that uses a radar sensor to continuously monitor the distance to the vehicles ahead along with detecting pedestrians and cyclists
• Lane Assist function that uses a camera to ensure the vehicle stays in the lane. The Adaptive Lane Guidance system can learn the driver’s driving characteristics and keep the car on an ideal line accordingly

Further, expanding the hatchback’s equipment kit are new front fog lights, electrically heated and adjustable folding mirrors, an additional centre airbag (total 7 airbags now), new wireless charging pad, and new ‘GTI’ embroidery on the front seats.

Powering the updated Volkswagen Golf GTI is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine found on the pre-updated model. The said powertrain kicks out a maximum power of 245 PS between 5,000 rpm and 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm between 1,600 rpm and 4,300 rpm. Sending power to the front wheels is a seven-speed DSG (wet) dual-clutch transmission.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia retails the new Golf GTI at RM 246,012 (on the road, without insurance). The price includes a 5-year unlimited-mileage warranty, a 3-year free maintenance programme, alongside 5-year free roadside assistance.
