Volkswagen released a new price list after the sales tax exemption
KUALA LUMPUR: Last week, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a sales tax exemption on new cars under the economic stimulus plan. For locally assemble models, sales tax exemption is 100%, while fully-imported models received a 50% exemption, starting from June 15 until December 31, 2020. In line with this, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) just released the reduced prices of all the models, which will be valid for the same duration.
The locally-assembled Volkswagen models are the Vento, Polo, Tiguan, and Passat, while the Golf family is fully imported. Let’s have a look at the updated prices of all Volkswagen models.
As we can see in the table above, Volkswagen Polo is now RM 930 cheaper, Volkswagen Vento Comfortline now retails for RM 981 less, Volkswagen Tiguan comes at a savings of RM 3,882, and Volkswagen Passat Elegance is now priced RM 6,134 less. Coming to the Golf family, Golf R-Line is RM 4,885 cheaper, Golf GTI is RM 7,633 less, and the price of Golf R is slashed by RM 9,484. However, no changes are made to the Beetle Sport price.
Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, welcomes this sales tax exemption as beneficial for car buyers at the end of the day. “We are always working towards making German engineering affordable to Malaysians. This good news translates to more savings for car buyers and offers a much-needed boost to the automotive sector made that has been dormant during the Movement Control Order.”
Besides price reduction, customers can also take benefit from Volkswagen’s ongoing promotional offers, including a six-month free installment option for all Tiguans booked and registered before June 30, 2020, exclusive online rebates on the Volkswagen eShowroom, and free home delivery service for customers located within 20 km of their preferred dealerships.
All Volkswagen models come with the same 3-years free maintenance, 5-years manufacturer’s warranty, and 5-years roadside assistance. For more information, customers can check the official website of Volkswagen Malaysia or can visit their nearest Volkswagen dealership.
