Volkswagen Polo Club Edition announced in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur: Volkswagen recently completed 40 years of Volkswagen Polo and in order to celebrate this milestone, Volkswagen Group Malaysia has announced the arrival of Volkswagen Polo Club Edition model. Currently in its fifth generation, this limited edition variant would be based on the recently facelifted model. It would be made available in both sedan and hatch versions.
Under the bonnet, both the variants would be powered by a 1.6-litre MPI engine carrying four cylinders. This robust engine would be capable of generating a maximum power of 105 PS at 5250 rpm along with a commanding torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm. This engine would be further mated to a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission which channels its power to both the front wheels.
Talking about styling, both the facelifted cars would feature smoked headlights while the hatch variant would get new bumpers, a Mk7 Golf flat-bottomed steering wheel along with new trim and upholstery patterns. Moving to the interiors, one can notice a Blaupunkt navigation system integrated into Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 seven-inch touchscreen head unit along with window tint.
Mr. Armin Keller, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia said- “To date, the status of the Polo in Malaysia is unmatched. With over 13,000 units sold it is no wonder that this practical, yet the fun car has captured the hearts of Malaysians. It's agile but solid performance results in a drive best suited for Kuala Lumpur's busy roads as well as long highways.” The Polo Club hatch version would be rolled out with a price tag of RM88,888 (excluding insurance, road tax and on-the-road costs) while sedan version would cost around RM89,888.
