Volkswagen Malaysia sets record at 2024 Golf Fan Fest: 370 Golfs gathered, Golf GTi Edition 50 makes appearance

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has etched its name into the Malaysia Book of Records by organising the largest gathering of Golf vehicles at the 2024 Golf Fan Fest. Held on August 24th at the Sepang International Circuit, the event saw an impressive assembly of 370 Golf units, a testament to the model's popularity in Malaysia.

Volkswagen enthusiasts from across the nation came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Golf, a vehicle that has captured the imagination of drivers worldwide since its inception. With over 37 million units delivered in more than 70 countries, the Golf has established itself as one of the automotive industry's most successful models. Now in its eighth generation, the Golf continues to win hearts with its cutting-edge design, outstanding performance, and unmistakable style.

Adding to the excitement, VPCM also took the opportunity to physically unveil the exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50 for the first time. This special edition, limited to just 50 units for the Malaysian market, is fully assembled in Pekan, Malaysia. The Golf GTI Edition 50 features unique elements such as a commemorative "50" emblem on the steering wheel, an Oettinger body kit, new wheels, and a range of interior and exterior enhancements. Priced at RM267,990, the model also comes with the Volkswagen Assurance Package, which includes five years of maintenance, an unlimited mileage warranty, and roadside assistance.

The Golf GTI Edition 50 made its debut at the Fan Fest, which attracted nearly 2,000 attendees, including participants from Singapore. The day was packed with activities for all ages, including a gymkhana driving challenge, Golf R drift taxi rides, and track sessions. Attendees also enjoyed a showcase highlighting the Golf's evolution over the past five decades, with a special award presented to the nation’s biggest Golf fan. From test drives to model car kit races, tech talks, and workshops, the event offered something for everyone.

Earlier this year, VPCM marked another significant milestone with the launch of the Touareg R-Line, which is also fully assembled at the Pekan plant. This makes Malaysia the only country outside of Europe to produce this third-generation flagship SUV, underlining VPCM’s growing presence in the international automotive scene.
