Updated Toyota Vios showcased at KLIMS 2018
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show has just started and Toyota has unveiled two highly anticipated sedans - the Toyota Camry and the Toyota Vios. With the bookings starting today for the Vios in Malaysia, the car has been displayed at the KLIMS 2018, which is open for media today. The Malaysian crowd can visit the event from tomorrow and witness the all-new Vios.
The new Vios that you can book from today will be available in three different trims, the 1.5 J, the 1.5 E, and the 1.5 G. The expected prices for the three variants are RM 77,200, RM 81,200, and RM 87,300, respectively.
The Yaris hatchback has been the inspiration, or we can say the foundation for the new Vios. Upswept headlights with a chunky lower grille along with a slender upper grille make up the front of the sedan. At the rear, one can see the large wrap-around tail lights. The sedan is available in Silver Metallic, Red Metallic, Dark Blue Metallic, Attitude Black, and Super White II.
The interior of the new Vios also takes cues from the Yaris, and also present is a Corolla Altis inspired 3-spoke steering wheel. Other interior features include a push-button start, Eco and Sport driving modes, fabric seats, auto air-conditioning, illuminated door sill scuff plates, front footwell illumination, among others. The infotainment system comes with Bluetooth, 4 speakers, and CD/Radio.
Mated to a CVT unit which has 7 virtual ratios is a 2NR-FE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i 4-pot motor. The engine is good enough for 107 PS of max power at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. Halogen headlights equipped with follow-me-home function, keyless entry, 15-inch alloy wheels, etc., come as standard. Choose the 1.5 E and you also get auto-fold door mirrors with integrated indicators, LED tail lights, fog lights, an acoustic glass windscreen, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, a multi-function steering wheel, a DVD-AVX infotainment system, and a dashcam.
The 1.5 G brings along 16-inch alloys, projector headlights, leather upholstery, paddle shifters, an Optitron instrument cluster that features a 4.2-inch multi-info display, front parking sensors, and six speakers.
The new Toyota Vios has got ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, stability control and rear ISOFIX child seat anchors, and 7 airbags as standard. The higher-end variants bring a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert with them.
