Upcoming BMW iX: In Pics
It was only recently in August that BMW Malaysia launched the all-electric iX. The pre-bookings have already begun and we hear that in just 5 days the SUV has received 64 orders. That's pretty amazing, we must say.
In Malaysia, the iX is offered in two trim options - the xDrive40 and Drive40 Sport. The former is priced at RM 419,630, while the latter is RM 53,000 costlier, thus bringing the total to RM 472,630. Note, these prices are on-the-road without insurance, with a two-year warranty. However, in case the customer wishes to extend the warranty and service package, the iX price increases to RM 435,800 and RM 488,800 for the xDrive40 and xDrive40 Sport, respectively.
Also, since the iX will arrive in Malaysia as a CBU model, the above mentioned do not factor in the ongoing sales tax exemption.
Before we move on to exploring the upcoming iX in pictures, we'll like to tell you that BMW is offering an optional RM 4,600 Power Package. It nets the buyers public charging cable and BMW I Wallbox, installation included.
Also, the iX xDrive40 offers a 400 km range, goes from 0 to 100 kmph in over 6 seconds and can go for more than 90 km in just 10 minutes with fast charging. Amazed! Well, wait as the images you are about to see impress you beyond your expectation.
So, let's get started...
The BMW iX front fascia showcases a futuristic style, the vertically aligned kidney grille highlights its progressive appearance. The narrowest twin headlight ever produced by BMW calls for an aggressive stance.
The side profile of the SUV showcases a generously proportioned rectangular contour around the wheel arches that draws attention towards the alloys. Further, elements like flush door handles, frameless doors and window outline, are integrated harmoniously into the design.
The rear displays a modern appearance thanks to the narrowest rear tail lights and large surfaces. The large diffuser you see here optimises the car's aerodynamics.
In terms of standard equipment, the BMW xDrive40 includes - LED headlamps with high-beam assistance, 21-inch aerodynamic wheels, side frame decorative moulding and window cavity covers in black high-gloss, and Comfort Access.
The iX sports a spacious cabin wrapped in Atelier interior package with selected control & components in Gold Bronze. Sensatec synthetic leather trim can be seen on the dashboard, seats, centre armrest, and centre console. Furthermore, part of the cabin equipment kit is - a wireless charger, driver seat with memory function, and a HiFi sound system.
The cabin design is for sure minimalistic, but modern at the same time. The same can be seen via the glassy Drive Controller on the centre console, it is framed by an elegant FSC-Certified wood control panel.
The iX offers a spacious lounge atmosphere at the rear, all thanks to the absence of the central tunnel. Further making the ride comfortable are the heated and 3D loudspeaker integrated headrest. Also, the backrest splits in a 40:20:40 ratio extending the luggage compartment capacity by manifold.
One of the cabin highlights is the full-length, 'Sky Lounge' panoramic glass roof. It creates a relaxed lounge atmosphere along with a generous sense of space within the cabin. Not, this one is part of the RM 53,000 Sport package that also includes - an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, anthracite pillar and headliner trims, switches made of real crystal glass, and other open-pored wood decorative elements.
It is for the first time a BMW production vehicle is installed with the BMW Curved Display that in iX serves as the central display and control element for the fully digital stage of the EV. So, it combines a 12.3-inch information display and the 14.9-inch Control Display, thus creating an impression of a free-floating picture frame.
On the safety front, the xDrive40 benefits from the Driving Assistance package that includes - rear collision prevention, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane change warning, and front collision warning with brake intervention. Further making the drive safer are features like passive cruise control, active park distance control, BMW's Parking Assistance with reversing assist, and a rear-view camera. The Sport package adds on - a tyre pressure monitoring system, surround-view camera, and Parking Assistance Plus. The Driving Professional package brings in steering and lane control assist, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, evasion assistant, and automatic speed limiter.
So, what are your thoughts on the BMW iX? Like it, want it? If your answer is yes, hurry up as BMW Malaysia is offering its first 100 customers a complimentary charging station installation
And one-year complimentary ChargEV public charging access.
