UMW Toyota sold over 8.4k units in May 2024; community programs and other initiatives

KUALA LUMPUR: In May 2024, UMW Toyota managed to sell a total of 8,422 units in Malaysia. This figure includes units of both Toyota and Lexus brands, bringing the total year-to-date sales to 39,211 units.

Beyond automotive excellence, the brand strives to enhance the quality of life and promote inclusive growth across society. It undertook the following initiatives to achieve that:

Toyota Eco Youth programme

Last month, the automaker launched the 23rd edition of the Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) program in association with the Ministry of Education. This annual program focuses on educating young people about environmental issues and engaging them in developing sustainable solutions. Since 2001, the programme has involved over 300,000 students from 521 schools.

Targeting students aged 13 to 17 from 16 schools, TEY 2024/2025 conducts workshops on Toyota's 8 Steps Problem Solving Method (PSM) to develop critical thinking skills. Participants have the chance to win cash prizes worth up to RM 80,000.

Toyota Start Your Impossible Outrun 2024

UMWT also announced the “Toyota Start Your Impossible Outrun 2024” for raising cancer awareness. This charity run will be held at Dataran Merdeka on June 23 and support the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). It features various race categories, including competitive races with an RM 50,000 prize pool and a Fun Run for all ages. 

“The success of community programs strengthens our dedication to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, reinforcing our role as a leader in the automotive industry and embodying our 'Move Your World' philosophy,” Datuk Ravindran K. added.

Apart from these social acts, the brand also remained in the headlines in the sports world. The Toyota Tour was held at Templer Park Country Club on May 16, 2024, where Paul San clinched his first win and Amateur Ng Jing Xuen won the Ladies Championship. The tour will proceed with the Fortuna Cup at Sibu GCC from June 25 to 27 and the Hilux Cup at Sabah GCC from July 16 to 18.

Speaking about the brand’s latest promo, the automaker is offering  up to 100% financing for selected models under its "Peace of Mind” June 2024 promo. Along with that, customers can also enjoy attractive discounts on the Yaris and Vios.
