Here’s a detailed list of the Toyota Veloz safety features -
Toyota Safety Sense
Just like other modem Toyota vehicles, the new MPV is also equipped with the brand’s advanced driver-assistance pack, called the Toyota Safety Sense. It includes the following safety gears -
- Pre-Collision Warning: This system uses the camera tech to detect the potential front collision with a vehicle/pedestrian during the day as well as nighttime driving and alerts the driver with an audiovisual warning.
- Pre-Collision Braking Assist: After receiving the pre-collision warning, the driver should manually apply the brake as soon as possible. But, if he/she does not slow or stop the vehicle, the pre-collision braking assist applies the brakes.
- Lane Departure Warning: This feature generates a warning if the vehicle begins to leave the traveling lane unintentionally.
- Lane Departure Prevention: If the driver does not respond to the lane departure alert, this feature automatically corrects steering inputs and the trajectory of the vehicle so that it gets back in the lane safely.
- Pedal Misoperation Control: It prevents the vehicle from a front collision resulting from the wrong selection of the gear.
- Front Departure Alert: It notifies the driver that the vehicle in front has started to move.
- Adaptive Cruise Control: Most suited for highway driving, the Adaptive Cruise Control lets the vehicle drive at a preset speed. With the help of a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control system, it automatically manages the vehicle’s speed for maintaining a safe distance.
- Adaptive Driving Beam: This feature manages the light distribution of the headlamps so they do not dazzle oncoming or preceding vehicles
Surrounding Monitoring System
- Blind Spot Monitor: This system detects the objects in the blind spot of the vehicle and alerts the driver about the same
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert: When there is a risk of collision with a vehicle or pedestrians passing behind the rearward direction of a reversing vehicle, this system warns the driver with an alert
- 3D Panoramic View Monitor: This monitor helps one to see any obstacle that may be around the vehicle and thus offers easy maneuverability in tight spaces.
- Front and rear DVR: The digital video recorder automatically documents the whole journey with the help of an HD camera, which can be great evidence in case of an accident. The front DVR comes as standard fitment while the rear one is optional.
Parking Sensors
Toyota's new MPV in Malaysia comes equipped with front and rear sonar sensors that alert the driver when the car comes close to any object/vehicle on the road.
Airbags
The Veloz comes packed with six airbags as standard. These include driver, front passenger, side, and curtain airbags.
Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control
The vehicle stability control prevents the vehicle from spinning while offering stability in different road conditions. It applies brakes to each wheel separately to prevent oversteer or understeer. The traction control, on the other hand, offers more traction when accelerating on slick surfaces.
Security Solar Tint
The security and solar window tinting of the MPV not only prevents glass break-ins but also reflects harmful rays and reduces heat build-up inside the vehicle.
Hill Start Assist
This system prevents the car from rolling backwards down a steep incline.
If we talk about the car’s performance in safety crash tests, the Veloz scored the perfect 5-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries) back in March. It was assessed under the latest 2021-2025 protocol and grabbed a total score of 79.99 points.
