Toyota Thailand launches 2020 Yaris and Yaris Ativ facelift

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only a while back that Toyota Philippines introduced the facelifted Vios, and now we here the sedan has made it to the 'Land of Smiles' - Thailand.

In Thailand, the Vios is known as Yaris Ativ. And this time it comes with its hatch sibling - the Yaris, both are updated for 2020.

The Yaris and Yaris Ativ are powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder mill that makes 92 PS and 109 Nm. It is paired with a Super CVT-i transmission that sends power to the front wheels. Toyota claims the cars will offer a mileage of 23.3 kmpl.

Let us now see what's new in the Yaris and Yaris Ativ facelift model-

• Starting with the lineup, both the B-segment sedan and its hatch version are offered in three variant options - Entry, Sport, and range-topping Sport Premium
• One of the most significant change comes in the form of the new lower grille that is downturned and merges with the upper grille
• At the front, both the cars now get LED reflector headlamps that are now integrated with L-shaped DRLs
• The bottom front spoiler colour scheme is now inverted, while the centre part matches the body-tone, rest of it is done in black
• The base Entry trim benefits from halogen lights, while the Sport and Sport Premium variants get LED lighting units all-over including LED fog lamps
• The middle and top trims feature follow-me-home and automatic on/off functions

• All the three trims run on 15-inch wheels, however, in Entry trim they are done in steel, and the remaining two trims get alloy option
• The cabin remains more or less same with a new silver metallic trim as the only addition, in the Entry trim we see a black trim
• Sport and Sport Premium variants get advanced features like a 6.7-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay, Optitron instrument cluster, and automatic air-con system

• The range-topping, Sport Premium trim further comes fitted with a 4.2-inch multi-info display, keyless entry and engine start, six speakers, electrochromic rearview mirror, leather upholstery, and rear USB port. It further gets Toyota Safety Sense suite that includes the Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert
• The Entry trim gets fabric and Sport a mix of fabric and leather upholstery

• Both the sedan and hatchback are loaded with following safety features -seven airbags, traction control, Vehicle Stability Control, ABS with EBD and BA, Hill-start Assist, seatbelt warning system, and reverse camera
