Toyota Fortuner gets an update in Thailand for 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota has introduced the updated version of the popular Fortuner SUV in the Thai market. The upgraded model gets a more powerful engine, new features, and enhanced suspension settings.

Toyota Thailand offers the new Fortuner in three variants - Leader, Legender, and GR Sport. The price starts at THB 1,375,000 (RM 179,915) and goes all the way up to THB 1,939,000 (RM 253,746).

The top-spec 2024 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport benefits from a more powerful 2.8-litre GD turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. The newly tuned engine kicks out a maximum power of 224 PS and a peak torque of 550 Nm with an increase of 20 PS and 50 Nm. It comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. 

The souped-up version of the SUV also features unique suspension settings for sharper handling. The GR-Sport accessories kit now includes - Smart Key, Push Start GR Sport aluminium accelerator and brakes, and red brake callipers.

Moving to the 2024 Toyota Fortuner Legender, it also gets an updated suspension setup with special shock absorbers and springs, offering increased comfort levels. The automaker has also revised the suspension system of the entry-level Toyota Fortuner Leader; it gets upgraded monotube dampers for improved ride and handling. 

The GR Sport and Legender trim also gains a new 9-inch infotainment unit, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, tyre pressure warning system, and updated Toyota Safety Sense pack. The Leader, on the other hand, now comes with a wireless charger, blind spot warning system, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree view camera system.

The Fortuner Legender engine options remain the same as earlier viz. 2.4-litre GD Super Power producing 150 PS and 400 Nm and 2.8-litre GD Super Power engine which is good for making 204 and 500 Nm. The base-spec Leader comes only with the 2.4-litre mill.

On the outside, design elements from the grille to the wheels to the colour choices have been carried forward from the 2023 model year.
