SPIED: Next-Gen Land Rover Discovery Sport

Kuala Lumpur: The Discovery Vision Concept of Land Rover (unveiled before the beginning of last year's New York Auto Show) is evident with the introduction of Land Rover Discovery Sport.  The SUV will give a tough competition to BHW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. As a member of Land Rover's revised range of vehicles, the new Discovery sub-brand comprises aforementioned Discovery Sport and the larger Discovery, which is yet to make its global debut. Luckily, the spy photographers have  yet again managed to capture pictures of all new next-gen Land Rover Discovery Sport during its road test. The all-new seven seater SUV was spotted heavily-camouflaged but still highlighting its slightly off-positioned third window near the C-pillar.

The front fascia of Discovery Vision Sport has gone through many alterations as you can notice its traditional squarish headlamps now looking more sleeker and rectangular. The headlamps are expected to feature LED lightings. The grille on the current version also looks smaller and more rounded in comparison to the large upright one of the previous version. The intakes near the corners of bumpers are also partially visible through their mesh netting covering.

The all new seven-seater SUV features a bit more curvature to its design and this is evident at its front and rear from the C-pillar onwards. However, the rear of Next-Gen Land Rover Discovery Sport doesn't feature significant alterations like its front fascia and contrasting the concept, the pillar-mounted tailgate of the previous version remain unchanged featuring the same split-tailgate design. The all new seven-seater SUV is built on the Land Rover's Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform that's also featured in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The platform is constructed with aluminium in order to make the next-gen Discovery Sport lighter than the current version.

The SUV is expected to be powered by the Jaguar Land Rover's range of Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
