SAIC Motor Malaysia previews the MG4 and MGZS EV - Open for booking, from RM104k, up to 435 PS/ 600Nm, 520km range

KUALA LUMPUR: Heralding a momentous return to the Malaysian automotive scene, MG triumphantly reclaims its presence locally, courtesy of SAIC Motor Malaysia.

In a dazzling debut, SAIC Motor Malaysia has graced the physical realm after making waves online, presenting a spectacular showcase of the highly anticipated MG 4 and MG ZS EV.  With prices beginning from RM104k, they are definitely one of the more affordable EVs available in Malaysia today.

With reservations now open, the official launch of these vehicles is set to occur shortly, promising an exciting new chapter for automotive enthusiasts, especially those who wish to explore affordable EVs and the historical MG brand.

The MG ZS SUV is presented in an exclusive single variant, whereas the MG 4 is set to captivate with four distinct versions, available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configuration. Below, we detail all the available variants along with some of their standout specifications:

Charging

The MG ZS can be charged through and AC type 2 7kw charger which will take it to full capacity in 8 hours, while in In fast-charging mode, it takes just 30 minutes to reach 80 percent battery capacity.

The MG 4 on the other hand can also be topped up via an AC type 2 7kw charger which will also take it to full capacity in 8 hours. As for fast DC charging, the MG 4 supports DC CCS 150kw charging, taking it from 10 - 80 per cent in 26 minutes.

The MG cockpit boasts a fusion of modern amenities and sleek, minimalist design. Highlighted features that merit attention include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 10.25-inch floating infotainment display compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additionally, it comes equipped with a wireless charger, a sophisticated rotary gear selector, multiple USB ports, and a flat-bottom leather steering wheel, encapsulating both style and functionality in its design.

Standard Features

All MGs come with 3 levels of Kinetic Energy  recovery System (KERS), but the MG4 features five driving modes ( eco, normal, sport,snow,custom) while the ZS features three (eco,normal,sport).

But standard across the boars are six airbags, ABS,EBD&BS, ESP,HSA and TPMS, as well as the MG i-SMART system, an in-car connectivity tech which integrates advanced infotainment, convenience, and safety features into MG vehicles, allowing drivers and passengers to stay connected and control various aspects of their car through a touchscreen interface or via a mobile app.

MG Pilot

All MGs come with MG Pilot, their version of an advanced suite of driver assistance technologies, designed to enhance safety, convenience, and driving comfort. They feature:

The STD variant features a single tone full black interior while the LUX and Extended LUX features dual tone interior with orange highlights. As mentioned above, the X-Power comes with black Alcantara upholstery. 

Colour options

The MG4 is offered in seven different colours, including Holborn Blue, Camden Grey, Monumnet Silver, Black Pearl, Artic White, Volcano Orange and Dynamic Red. The X-Power gets a special lick of paint called Racing Green.

The ZS on the other hand is offered in four different colours, including Monument Silver, Black Pearl, Artic White and Dynamic Red.

Warranty

The MG4, the MG ZS EV comes with a comprehensive warranty package, including 7 years or 150,000km (whichever comes first) on the vehicle and 8 years or 180,000km (whichever comes first) on the battery.

To book the MG4 or ZS SUV, look out for MG's dealer showroom events on selected dates. The all-electric MG4 and MG ZS EV will make its first public appearance at Pavilion KL and selected MG Dealer showrooms in the month of March.
