Range Rover Velar gets updated look and advanced tech for 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: The Velar is a popular Range Rover model that sits between the Evoque and Sport in the SUV’s lineup. This ultimate piece of luxury has just got better with a host of updates making it more appealing and engaging. It gains aesthetic enhancements, and new upholstery options as well as the next-gen Pivi Pro infotainment system.

While the design of the Land Rover SUV is already groundbreaking, the automaker gave it a fresh vibe by making changes to the grille and headlights. The latter now features simpler LED signatures (matrix LED tech as optional) and is paired with jewel-like DRLs. The rear gets its fair share of refreshment in the form of new LED tail lamps with a 3D form and super-red illumination. 

Also new for 2024 is a full-length stop-lamp and two exterior shades - Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey. 

Inside, the 2024 Range Rover Velar gets a new 11.4-inch touchscreen that runs on an updated version of the Pivi Pro software. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, satellite navigation, and what3words functions and remains up to date by receiving the latest software updates from time to time.

Among the key interior updates are - 

• Leather-free interior upholstery made from Kvadrat wool and Ultrafabrics polyurethane textiles
• New leather colour options, including Cloud, Raven Blue, and Deep Garnet
• New place for the wireless charger on the centre console
• New chrome accents 
• Updated active noise cancellation system
• New cabin air purification system

Also part of the kit is a 750-watt Meridian 3D surround-sound system with 17 speakers, a four-zone air-conditioning system, and an ambient lighting system with 30 colours to choose from. 

Among the engine choices available for the 2024 Range Rover Velar are one diesel, two petrol, and an upgraded plug-in hybrid model. The latter combines a 300 PS 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 142 PS e-motor together churning out a maximum power of 404 PS and a peak torque of 640 Nm. It benefits from a higher capacity battery i.e. 19.2-kWh offering an all-electric range of 40 miles on the WLTP cycle.

The new Range Rover Velar is now available to order in the UK market at a starting price of £54,045 (RM 284,182).
