Proton Satria Neo, production to cease this year
Kuala Lumpur: Production of the three-door hatchback will cease this year according to the response made by the national carmaker on the official facebook page of Proton Motorsports. Well, this comes out to be a really bad news for three door hatchback lovers.

The Proton Satria Neo Standard 4 AT was launched in January last year which is the most recent version of the car.. The second generation Satria has gone through numerous revisions since it was first launched in 2006. Along with frequent revisions, the hatch also switched up in variants that are already offered.Currently the Proton Satria is being offered in five variants: 1.6 MT Standard, 1.6 ATStandard, 1.6 MT Standard with Aero Kit, R3 1.6 AT Executive and R3 1.6 MT Executive. All the above variants are fitted with 1.6 litres CamPro CPS in-line four-cylinder engine that churns out 125 hp at 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
The Proton Satria Neo in its near to 10 years of production has produced several high-performance variants that includes R3 Satria Neo which differs from the models mentioned above. The car received a stage 2 performance upgrade which is built by company's motorsport division. It bumped the power up to 145 hp at 7,000 rpm, and 168 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm mated with a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox.
Even Lotus focused on the model which gave rise to only 25 Proton Satria Neo R3 Lotus Racing edition. The car certainly was deserving of its “Lotus Racing” name after the bunch of performance enhancements. But in case we forget, the Proton Satria Neo was also converted for rally racing duties, known as the Ne S2000.
