Perodua to unveil new EV concept at KLIMS 2024
KUALA LUMPUR: Not only Proton but Perodua is also geared up for all-electric mobility. Malaysia’s largest automaker has recently teased the all-new EMO-II concept on its social media handles, offering us a sneak peek at its first electric car. The full preview will be held at the upcoming 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show.

Perodua has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Petronas and Gentari to establish charging stations at Perodua service centres.The EMO-II concept is the more refined version of the EMO-I Concept shown at the 2024 Malaysia Auto Show back in May. As shown in the teaser video, it features a sportier design with the same bold X-shaped bumper and sharp corners, now complemented by a full-width light bar and an illuminated Perodua logo.
While we await more details on the upcoming Perodua EMO-II concept from the automaker, let’s take a look back at the EMO-I for a quick recap.
The prototype was identical to the Perodua Myvi in terms of dimensions, with a length of 3,895 mm, a width of 1,735 mm, and a height of 1,515 mm. It was equipped with a front-mounted electric motor, delivering a maximum power of 163 PS and a peak torque of 315 Nm, paired with either a 55.7 kWh or 57.6 kWh battery pack offering a range of between 350 km to 450 km.
The Perodua EV hatchback supports AC and DC charging. The former takes 7 hours and 30 minutes for 100% SoC while the latter juices up 80% battery in just 20 minutes.
According to reports, the Perodua EV will be fully developed in-house, unlike the Proton eMAS 7, which is co-developed with Geely. It is expected to launch by the end of 2025 and will likely be priced under RM 100k.
