Perodua Bezza - Variants explained

Bezza is a car developed by the Malaysian automobile manufacturer, Perodua. The vehicle comes under the A-segment and was launched in 2016,

with three variants on offer, namely Standard G, Premium X and Advance. It has been the first-ever sedan car by the automaker and continues to be a range-topper since its launch with a 5 star ASEAN NCAP rating.

Bezza, codenamed as D63D is based on the Axia’s platform, which is a five-door hatchback. Famous for being an in-house effort with 95% local content, the car has not received any major update to its existing lineup yet.

However, Perodua launched a Limited Edition Bezza which was based on the Premium X and came solely with an automatic transmission. This variant of the car was limited to 50 units at its launch.

People are speculating a 2020 Bezza, as the car has not received any form of update in recent years. The new and updated Bezza is expected to have X-face design adapted from the current Axia SE/Advance.

It is also suspected to have slimmer headlamps and grille. The lower end of the car is expected to be more streamlined. Moreover, it is said to be bigger and provide good headroom and boot space with a larger wheel-base of around 15-inches alloy.

Features and Pricing

Bezza carries a 4-door style and is very similar to the Axia and shares its width (1,620 mm) and height (1,510 mm). The wheelbase of the vehicle measure 2,455 mm (96.7 in) along with the length being at 4,150 mm (163.4 in),

the Bezza is 510 mm longer than the Axia. The additional feature of the car that differs it from the Axia is the addition of a very big boot, at 508 litres and the additional full-size spare beneath.

The pricing of the car is based on its model variants, the Bezza 1.0 Standard G MT (2018) costs RM 33,502 while the Bezza 1.0 Standard G AT (2018) costs RM 35,389. Bezza 1.3 Premium X MT (2018) costs RM 39,069 and the Perodua Bezza 1.3 Premium X AT (2018) costs RM 40,904 and the Perodua Bezza 1.3 Advance (2018) costs RM 46,408.

The car derives its power from a 1KR-VE 1.0-litre engine, similar to the engine in the Axia, but not identical. Bezza gets a VVT-i variable valve timing, a higher compression ratio, reduced friction and improved combustion. The three-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 67hp at 6,000 rpm and generates a peak torque of up to 91Nm at 4,400 rpm.
