Perodua Bezza - 2019 vs 2020
Over the last few days, the 2020 Perodua Bezza has created quite a buzz in the Malaysian car market. And why shouldn’t it have? It used to be one of the best A-segment sedans available in the country and its 2020 version continues to be so. If you are wondering what all changes does it have that makes it even a better car than before? Worry not, in this article we are going to do a comparison between the 2019 and 2020 version of the Bezza.
Dimensions
The 2020 Perodua Bezza’s tagline is ‘Beyond Compact’. Does that mean it is bigger than its predecessor in terms of dimensions? Following is a detailed comparison of the dimensions of 2020 Bezza and 2019 Bezza.
Dimensions | 2019 Perodua Bezza | 2020 Perodua Bezza |
Length | 4150 mm | 4170 mm |
Width | 1620 mm | 1620 mm |
Height | 1510 mm | 1525 mm |
Wheelbase | 2455 mm | 2455 mm |
Boot space | 508-litres | 508-litres |
Kerb weight | 865 kg | 940 kg |
As you can see, the new Bezza is longer and taller than the outgoing model. This might be one of the reasons for the improved rear passenger comfort in the 2020 Bezza. Also, the new car is heavier than before.
Exterior Features
Being a facelift, the 2020 Perodua Bezza gets a handful of changes in its exterior that make it stand above its predecessor. Following are some of the noticeable changes-
- The 2020 Bezza features full-LED headlights. The 2019 Bezza didn’t have them. In fact, no other A-segment sedan comes with full-LED headlights. So that’s really commendable.
- Perodua also changed the front bumper, making it sportier than before; a feature we like.
- On the side, we now have large 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that are more attractive than the 14-inch wheels of the 2019 model.
- You will also find body-coloured outside rearview mirrors with integrated LED side turn signals along with sportier side skirts in the new Bezza.
- The design of the taillights have been slightly altered and they are now joined by a chrome strip.
All these differences, or should we say changes, certainly make the new 2020 Bezza a much better car to look at.
Interior Features
When it comes to the interior, Perodua didn’t change much in the 2020 Bezza. Most of the features have been carried forward from the 2019 model as they were. However, certain new elements in the 2020 Bezza’s cabin stand out.
- The most prominent visual change in the interior of the new Bezza is the silver bar on the dash and silver accents around the AC vents. These were not present in the 2019 model.
- Perodua has also tweaked the instrument cluster graphics in the new car.
- Also, the rear passenger comfort has been improved by altering the recline angle of the rear seats. In the 2019 Bezza, people used to complain about a posture too upright which caused discomfort in longer journeys.
Engine and Transmission
As we mentioned before, the new Bezza is a facelift and not a brand-new model. Thus, it gets a plethora of familiar features. And probably that’s why Perodua didn’t bother to play around with the engine and transmission combinations. Compare the 2019 Perodua Bezza specs and 2020 Perodua Bezza specs and you’d discover that both the models have the same set of engines. However, in the case of the transmission, the 1.0L engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto transmission, but 1.3L is available with only automatic transmission.
Engine options in 2019 and 2020 Perodua Bezza-

Safety Features
The previous model of Perodua Bezza was already a very safe car. It even had an impressive 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. However, in the new 2020 model, Perodua has made the Bezza even safer than before by adding its high-end safety package called Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0. This package includes-
- Pre-Collision System (Braking up to 80 kmph and Warning up to 100 kmph)
- Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 kmph)
- Front Departure Alert
- Pedal Misoperation Control
This is really impressive because cars that are much, much expensive than the 2020 Bezza don’t have Pedestrian Detection. Now, with the inclusion of Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0, the new Bezza has become the safest A-segment sedan in Malaysia.
So there you have it guys, that was a comparison between the 2019 Bezza and 2020 Bezza. The primary changes in the new model have been made in the exterior and safety features.
