Nissan has revealed 2020 Leaf with better safety features
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan has revealed an update for its small hatch, Leaf, with an all-electric model. The new updated model is all set to feature improved ProPilot advanced driver-assist systems along with added connectivity options.
The former helps to provide smoother braking in different conditions. 2020 Leaf is due to be released in the Japanese market in February next year.
The automaker has claimed to offer increased vehicle control to reduce fatigue and stress faced by the driver of the vehicle; the car also features an option for the driver to drive at a set speed on inclined roadways. The car comes wrapped in two limited colour options, Vivid Blue and Stealth Grey.
Leaf offers a balanced powertrain output and comes accompanied by an improved battery with longer life. The powertrain can generate a maximum power of 150 hp and peak torque of up to 320 Nm. The car runs on a 40 kWh battery which enables it to cover a distance of up to 400 km on a single charge. The charging time of the battery ranges from 8 to 16 hours.
The interior of the car flaunts a 9.0-inch central touch-screen, with updated NissanConnect multimedia systems that provide better map views and features a more friendly user-interface. The small hatch also comes with a new hotspot feature alongside a smartphone application that connects with the vehicle and allows remote lock and updates the status of the car to its owner.
There has been an upgrade to the connectivity feature that pairs the car sat-nav system with the drivers’ smartphone and gets an EV function, which displays a recharging plan to assist the driver in having an idea of the current battery life. With a 20 per cent quicker park assist version, drivers get an assist in all forms of parking operations including acceleration, braking, steering and gear selection.
Moreover, 2020 Leaf will come equipped with Canto, which is the automakers new offering signature sound for EV’s. The signature sound is projected externally at speeds up to 30km/h to increase pedestrian awareness at low speeds or reversing.
