Nissan e-4ORCE technology makes electric vehicles speedy and sporty
KUALA LUMPUR: Most of the EV buyers only focus on comparing travel range and price while purchasing an electric car. But lack of acceleration, jarring stops, and slow response time are some of the practical problems; they later on, deal with. Electric vehicles run in a straight line, but there is an automaker who wants its electric cars to deliver a balanced performance, with perfect handling and comfort, we are talking about the Japanese auto giant, Nissan, who heads up with its new e-4ORCE technology.
The ‘e’ stands for electric, which refers to a 100% battery-powered motor drive system, whereas the ‘4’ represents all-wheel configuration. e-4ORCE is a twin-motor layout that puts a single electric motor on each axle, effectively granting the vehicle an all-wheel drive.
First revealed at the 2020 CES show earlier this year, Nissan e-4ORCE is actually being designed with performance in mind. It features improved performance standards on steering, cornering, braking, and overall daily driving confidence. Its revolutionary technology provides a balanced and predictable performance through delivering instant torque to all four wheels,
"e-4ORCE's control technology stands out from other EV all-wheel systems available today. We performed extensive fine-tuning to deliver precise performance that supports the driver's intentions for an enjoyable drive under a wide variety of conditions,” said Ryozo Hiraku, head of Nissan's powertrain and EV engineering division.
“We developed this technology to work in the background and not disrupt the driver. We want even first-time drivers to feel comfortable with vehicle reactions as intended in an extremely natural way. Once people get used to a car with e-4ORCE, they may find it surprising to drive a car without it,” said Hiraku.
To demonstrate how e-4ORCE works, Nissan put together four separate tests by installing the system on a Leaf e+. It includes acceleration, head-bouncing, slalom, and constant-radius wet turn. The special leaf is decked out in a special livery and was rolling on Volk Racing TE-37 wheels.
Nissan e-4ORCE is in the final stage of development, and Nissan Leaf is assumed to carry the system first of all. The automaker has not yet announced its arrival. So, for now, we will have to wait, and one thing is sure that it will be worth the wait.
