Next-gen Nissan X-Trail rendered images are out

KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan X-Trail, the most popular compact crossover of Japanese automaker’s lineup, is set for a makeover. The images leaked from Brazil’s patent office reveals how the next-gen model looks like. However, the leaked document does not carry any name, but it is somewhat similar to the existing X-Trail.

The rendered images are the first official looks of the upcoming Nissan X-Trail. On the front end, the SUV features a ‘Vmotion 2.0’ fascia and grille integrated with the new and slimmer ‘V’ structure headlamps placed at each end. Around the sides, the design cues are the same as the current version. Coming to the rear part, you can notice the slimmer tail lamps, more highlighted crease line of the tailgate and a new character line between the rear door handles and window line. The lower part of the front, as well as rear bumper, carries faux skid plates.

The leaked images do not reveal anything about the cabin. But, as per the previous spy shots of the upcoming Nissan X-Trail, we can say that a bigger 10.0-inch central infotainment system, digital climate control, and digital instrument cluster display will be there.

Speaking about the mechanical bits, it is expected to get a 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine from Altima. The engine is capable of producing 188 hp of maximum power and 244 Nm of torque with a CVT transmission. The market speculates that it could get a turbocharged model to rival against Ford Escape 2.0-litre EcoBoost and Mazda CX-5 2.5L turbo. Not only this, but also a hybrid X-Trail is expected.

Amid all these speculations and leaked images circulating all around, Nissan is completely quiet on this matter. Looking at the present coronavirus outbreak in the world, we can say that any official announcement or showcase may take place later this year.
