Next-gen Ford Everest SUV coming to Malaysia on Sept 24
KUALA LUMPUR: The American automaker local lineup only includes the Ranger pickup truck which is offered in four variant options. But things are about to change as Ford Malaysia’s official Twitter page confirms the arrival of the all-new Everest later this month on September 24. The new Everest is built on the same platform as the Ranger, i.e., an updated version of T6 body-on-frame platform.It was only in July that the official distributor of Ford cars in Malaysia, Sime Darby ConneXion (SDAC) launched the all-new Ranger. Now the news of 2022 Everest’s arrival in Malaysia after its global debut in March and its recent Thai launch shows Ford’s intention to expand its reach in the local arena.

What do we know about the 2022 Ford Everest?
Platform: The new Everest SUV enjoys the same, efficient ladder frame chassis on which the Ranger pickup is built.
Dimensions: The Everest SUV measures 1923 mm in length, 4914 mm in width, and 1842 mm in height. Its wheelbase and ground clearance stretch to 2900 mm and 227 mm respectively.
It has a water wading capacity of 800 mm.
Design language: In terms of design, the upcoming Everest showcases a very similar face to its pickup sibling. A few of its highlights include a prominent front grille, C-shaped LED DRLs, LED auto headlights, LED tail lamps, LED fog lamps, roof rails, and many more rugged elements.
Cabin features: The Everest can easily accommodate seven people across its three-row setup. The dashboard looks a lot similar to that of Ranger. There is plenty of techs available with a variety of infotainment displays and instrument clusters depending on the variant.
Powertrain configuration: Ford is offering the new Everest in three diesel engine options, including a Single Turbo 2.0 inline four-cylinder unit, a Bi-turbo 2.0 inline four-cylinder mill, and a 3.0-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 option. In the future will also be available a petrol option in the form of a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder.
All the powertrains are coupled with a 6R80 6-speed automatic or a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.
Safety: As expected the Ford offers the next-gen Everest with a strong safety suite that includes nine airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and more.
Price: The Thai-spec Everest is offered in four variant options - Trend 4x2, Sport 4x2, Titanium+ 4x2, and Titanium+ 4x4, which range from 1.334 million baht (RM 162,506) to 1.854 million baht (RM 225,852).
