New Volvo XC90 earns five stars from Euro NCAP
Kuala Lumpur: The new Volvo XC90 has received top marks from Euro NCAP in its latest round of safety tests. The video posted below will give you a clear idea about the strong built of this Swedish SUV, Volvo XC90.

In a statement, Euro NCAP said: "Good occupant protection is still the backbone of a top rating in Euro NCAP, but the availability and performance of avoidance and driver support systems, which will ultimately pave the way for highly automated vehicles, is becoming increasingly important."

The major test was to measure the frontal impact in which the Volvo XC90 was taken to a speed of 64 km/h and rammed with 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. Respectively in the full-width test, 100% of the width of car goes into a rigid barrier at 50 km/h. Then comes the pole test in which the car is propelled sideways at 32 km/h striked to a rigid pole.
Adult Occupant (97%):
Test results of Euro NCAP for Volvo XC90 says that its standard autonomous emergency braking system is capable of bringing the car to a halt before a collision occurred in all of its tests. Henceforth, the new large luxury SUV scored high points, particularly for adult protection.

Child Occupant (87%):
Also, the automatic braking system and forward collision warning system in Volvo XC90 functions in three driving scenarios - driving towards a stationary vehicle (30-80 km/h), closing in at a slower vehicle in front (30-80 km/h) and following a car in front (50 km/h, gentle and harsh braking).
Pedestrian (72%):
The SUV Volvo XC90 performed greatly grabbing five out of five stars, with a 97% score in Adult Occupant and 87% in Child Occupant. Euro NCAP also rates on the parameters pedestrian safety and safety assistant systems among that the Volvo XC90 scored 72% and 100% respectively.
Safety Assist (100%):
The Euro NCAP highlights certain flaws, including a side curtain airbag, failed to deploy as its rearmost edge during the sideways test. Other than this, Volvo XC90 lacks protection to pedestrians in the pelvic region.
