New Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 received 2020 Red Dot Award
KUALA LUMPUR: The French automaker, Peugeot has recently begged the design awards for the 208 hatchback and 2008 SUV. Yes, we are talking about the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, an international design prize awarded annually by Red Dot GmbH & Co. in three categories; product design, brand and communication design, and design concepts. Lion brand had already won this award five times. And this is the sixth time when Peugeot models become successful in impressing the international jury and won out over 6,500 products submitted.
Haico van der Luyt, Managing Director of Peugeot Germany, commented, “We are proud to receive the coveted Red Dot design award in the ‘Product Design’ category for two of our new models. This provides further proof that we are on exactly the right track with our design DNA.”
The new Peugeot 208 boasts a striking new design, which attracted the jury with its elongated lines and sporty look. Inside the cabin, the model features a Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit®, which comprises the digital 3D instrument cluster, multi-function sports steering wheel, and a 10-inch touchscreen. However, the cluster Is available as standard from Allure trim upwards.
Coming to the all-new Peugeot 2008 SUV, it impressed the panel of experts with its new design language flaunting vertical LED front daytime running lights. It gives the vehicle a saber-toothed appearance and enhances brand recognition. The car looks interesting, dynamic, alive from the front to the rear because of triangular lines and sharp edges featured by its multifaceted profile. At the rear end, 2008 SUV features a horizontal, gloss-black band that combines the LED rear lights in the shape of three claws. Inside the cabin, one can find several fine detailings including contrasting decorative stitching, ambient LED lighting and high-quality seat upholstery such as Alcantara®.
Alongside efficient petrol and diesel variants, the new models are also available in electric versions. The ultra-fine and exclusive design elements differentiated the Peugeot e-208 and Peugeot e-2008 from their combustion-engine versions.
