New 2023 BMW X7: Key Highlights
BMW today unveiled the latest version of its flagship SUV, the new 2022 BMW X7 with a redesigned face which broke the internet, a few other subtle yet significant cosmetic enhancements, a tweaked interior, as well as a range of new features.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Is the BMW X7 available in Malaysia?
Yes it is. The BMW X7 is currently being sold for RM681,000 on the road without insuranceNew face
The main highlight of the new BMW X7 is certainly the new face which now features a horizontally-split LED headlight which houses the daytime running lights and turn signals on top, and the adaptive Matrix headlights below.
The grille remains just as big and outrageous but there is an Iconic Glow illuminated version available as an option now in case it is not striking enough. The bumper is also new, looking sportier and more radical than before.
For the first time, massive 23-inch lightweight alloy wheels are offered as standard. Also new is the Sparkling Copper Grey Metallic colour option.
At the rear, the X7 now rocks new tail lights with 3D design and side graphics as well as a chrome strip under glass which runs across the rear fascia.
Interior
The new BMW X7’s cabin has also gone through an extensive update. Taking centre stage is the redesigned instrument panel with slim air vents which is complemented beautifully by the BMW Curved Display that consists of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch central display.
Moving down, the centre-console now houses a new selector lever. There is also an illuminated ambient light bar with exclusive X7 graphics running across the dashboard.
BMW has also fitted with extra standard features like Comfort Access, a panoramic glass sunroof, and heated comfort seats for the driver and co-driver.
Also worth mentioning is that there is a new Sensafin upholstery which is 100% vegan offered as standard in the new X7.
There are new driver assistance features as well, such as Parking Assistant, Trailer Assistant, Reversing Assistant, and Manoeuvre Assistant.
Three mild hybrid variants
The new BMW X7 will be available in three variants, out of which two are petrol and one is diesel.
While the X7 xDrive40i is powered by 380 hp straight-six petrol engine, the X7 M60i xDrive gets a 530 hp V8 petrol engine, followed by the X7 xDrive40d diesel variant which comes with a straight-six diesel engine kicking out 352 hp.
All engines are paired with an eight-speed steptronic automatic gearbox, a 48V mild hybrid system, and BMW’s intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system. Also standard is the air suspension system which ensures top comfort level.
Will it come to Malaysia?
Since the previous generation BMW X7 is being sold in Malaysia, the new version which we’re looking at here will certainly make its way to our shores in the near future.
While there has not been any official announcements regarding this, our guess is that the variant which is most likely to come to Malaysia will be the BMW X7 xDrive40i.
That being said, watch this space for more updates on the new BMW X7 which is looking much more youthful and sportier than before.
In case you’re wondering how much it will ask for, the current X7 is being sold in Malaysia for RM685,196 on the road without insurance.
