MINI Malaysia launches the all-new MINI Cooper SE - RM194k, 402km range, 218hp/330Nm, 0-100 6.7s

KUALA LUMPUR: MINI Malaysia has introduced its latest automotive lineup during the New MINI Family Launch Event at JIO Space, Petaling Jaya. Running only for a day, the event welcomes the public to experience, test drive the newly introduced models, including the freshly introduced all-electric MINI Cooper SE,  which also makes its South East Asia debut.

New Models and Pricing

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the MINI Cooper SE, showcased alongside the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman ALL4 and the MINI Cooper S, which had been previewed at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Additionally, the event served as the platform for announcing the official pricing for these new models.The prices are as follows:

Design and Features

Back to the star of the show, the new MINI Cooper SE retains the iconic design language of its predecessors while introducing modern touches. A notable feature is the octagonal front grille with intricate contouring, housing the smallest radar sensor among BMW Group models. The LED headlights come with high-beam assistant and three selectable light signatures, each with unique welcome and goodbye animations.

The vehicle's silhouette is defined by short overhangs, a short bonnet, and a long wheelbase, creating a sleek and athletic look. The design emphasizes minimalism with flush door openers, absence of traditional side scuttles, and 18-inch Night Flash spoke 2-tone wheels.

Interior Innovation

Inside, the MINI Cooper SE focuses on essential elements, reducing the number of components but enhancing their quality. The driver is greeted by a three-spoke sport steering wheel and a two-tone houndstooth pattern dashboard. A 240mm round OLED display serves as the centerpiece, surrounded by warm materials for a cozy atmosphere. The redesigned toggle bar and center console provide increased storage and ergonomic comfort.

The MINI Experience Modes use light graphics to enhance the driving experience, supported by a Harman Kardon surround sound system. Standard features include Vescin sport seats, electric seat adjustment, headliner anthracite, and a comfort access system.

Performance and Dynamics

The all-electric MINI Cooper SE delivers 218 hp and 330 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/h. Its petrol counterpart, the MINI Cooper S, offers 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

The Cooper SE benefits from enhanced track width, wheelbase, and finely tuned spring and damper configurations for lively handling. Its 54.2 kWh battery provides a range of 387 to 402 kilometers on a single charge, supporting both AC and DC charging options.

Safety and Digital Innovation

The MINI Cooper SE includes advanced safety features such as Lane Change Warning, Speed Limit Info, Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, and Parking Assistant Plus.

It also integrates the new MINI Operating System 9, providing a digitalized experience through the MINI Interaction Unit and MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant. The MINI App offers features like Remote 3D View, Remote Engine Start, and e-mobility functions, enhancing the overall user experience.

Colour Options

The MINI Cooper SE is available in Blazing Blue, Nanuq White, Chili Red II, Legend Grey, Sunny Side Yellow, Midnight Black II, British Racing Green, and Melting Silver. The MINI Cooper S offers Ocean Wave Green, Legend Grey, Nanuq White, and Chili Red, while the MINI Countryman SE and JCW Countryman come in various expressive colors, emphasizing adventure and sportiness.

MINI Countryman SE ALL4

The all-electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 stands out with several striking features:

• Exterior Design: Short overhangs, long wheelbase, and a new octagonal grille. It also boasts adaptive LED headlights with three distinct light signatures and welcome/goodbye animations.
• Interior: Features a spacious, curved dashboard, and a unique round OLED display encased in a sleek glass frame. The new MINI Operating System 9 powers the interface, including the MINI Maps Package and MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
• Performance: Powered by synchronous motors with a 66.5 kWh battery, it delivers 313 hp and 494 Nm of torque, reaching 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 180 km/h.

MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Countryman ALL4

The MINI JCW Countryman ALL4 offers performance and style:

• Exterior: Exclusive JCW trim with a red roof and mirrors, high-gloss black frame around the front grille, black bonnet stripes, and JCW Performance Brakes.
• Interior: JCW-specific patterns in Red, Anthracite accents, and JCW sports seats in perforated Vescin with Red and Grey highlights. Features a JCW steering wheel and expandable cargo space from 505 to 1,530 liters.

MINI Cooper S

The new MINI Cooper S combines classic MINI design with modern features:

• Exterior: Compact proportions, round headlights, octagonal grille, adaptive LED headlights, and 18-inch Slide Spoke 2-tone light alloy wheels. Includes adjustable light signatures and welcome/goodbye animations.
• Interior: Classic-inspired cabin with a new steering wheel, round OLED display, and a two-tone textile dashboard. Features a black-blue cockpit with various premium amenities like Harman Kardon sound system and MINI Head-Up display.
• Performance: Equipped with a 2.0-litre engine producing 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, with a top speed of 242 km/h.
