Mini Malaysia launches Cooper S Convertible facelift, only 20 units available

KUALA LUMPUR: It seems like the 60th-anniversary celebration is only getting bigger and better for Mini. Speaking of which, we already mentioned about the introduction of Mini Service + Repair Inclusive Programme, after which came the news of Cooper SE debut and now we have the 20 units limited Cooper S Convertible facelift. Great, isn’t it?

The Cooper S guise Mini Convertible facelift is priced at RM 279,888 (on-the-road without insurance). Living up to its facelift tag, the car features many revisions, some of which are also found on the hatchback.

Powering the 60th anniversary Cooper S Convertible facelift is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine (coming from the BMW Group) that offers a maximum power of 192 hp along with a peak torque of 280 Nm. The power is sent down to the front wheels via 7-speed Steptronic Sports dual-clutch transmission unit.

On the performance front, the car can hit the 100 kmph mark in 7.1 seconds and delivers a top speed of 230 kmph. The fuel consumption figure rests at 17.54 kmph. Besides, the Cooper S Convertible facelift comes with three driving modes - Sport, Green, and Mid, the latter one is set as the default option.

The exterior gets design elements just like its hatch sibling. Included in the list are LED daytime running lights that are infused in the LED headlamps and also function as indicators. At the rear, we have the full-LED taillight with Union Jack moniker reminding us of the brand’s heritage. A Mini Your Union Jack fabric roof is part of the package, it opens in 18 secs at a speed of 30 kmph. The car rides on 17-inch Rail Spoke alloy wheels sprayed in Jet Black. Increasing the size of the luggage compartment is the Easy Load system that holds the soft top above the car.

The cabin features MINI Yours illuminated interior surface in Piano Black and Leather Chester Malt Brown upholstery. The former is offered in 12 color choices, illustrating the Union Jack design on the dash.

The Cooper S Convertible facelift is available in five exterior color choices - Starlight Blue, Caribbean Aqua, Solaris Orange, Chili Red, and Melting Silver.
