Mini Cooper Pat Moss Edition pays tribute to British women race driver

KUALA LUMPUR: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Mini celebrated the achievements of Pat Moss, a British racing driver, by introducing the Mini Cooper Pat Moss Special Edition model.

It was Pat Moss behind the wheel when Mini achieved its first-ever international rally victory and so a tribute to the racer in a male-dominated sport seems due for long.

Coming to the special edition Mini Cooper in question, it is a rightful tribute to the rally that Pat Moss and her co-pilot Ann Wisdom won. The car showcases several special visual upgrades reminding of the great win. For instance, the front fenders of the Mini Cooper Pat Moss Edition is emblazoned with the 2,500 km race info that the duo took from Denmark to French Rivera and back.

What else?

The car’s C-pillar, wheel hub covers, and side scuttles get a tulip motif, while the bonnet features a horizontal white strip that pays tribute to the winning Mini Cooper’s registration number, i.e., 737 ABL. And Pat Moss’s signature underneath the right headlight.

On the inside too one can find ample tributes/reminders of the duo’s achievement. For instance, the same tulip motif seen on the outside is placed inside as well, on the door sill plates and on the steering wheel’s centre spoke via a decorative plate.

Furthermore, a unique pattern with bars of different heights from letters ‘M’ and ‘W’ on the dashboard, again a way of paying tribute to the Moss and Wisdom. It also gets Piano Black interior surfaces, sports leather steering, and engine piston motifs on the driver side.

The Cooper Pat Moss Edition will get the unique Multitone Roof as standard and the unique paint process will ensure each roof gets its own colour pattern, making it one-of-a-kind.

Apart from paying tribute to Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom, the Mini Pat Moss Edition is created to celebrate strong women, like the one in the picture. She is Mini’s designer, Morgane Bavagnoli, a key member in shaping the brand.

On the introduction of Cooper’s special edition model she said, “When there is already a strong story, as with the Pat Moss Edition, it is a pleasure to define the details, combine the elements that underline this story, choose the right colour combination and decide where to place the design features.”

The Pat Moss Edition will only be limited to 800 units globally and will be available in either Cooper S or John Cooper Works forms. Interested buyers can select the car in either Midnight Black metallic or Pepper White hues.
