With a “Charismatic Simplicity'' as a thesis behind the concept’s design, Mini just nailed it. The EV has a straightforward two-box design with the charismatic addition of finely cut edges and chiselled shoulders.
On the front lies a pseudo-grille with an octagonal contour and a green LED light bar. It carries a Union Jack LED motif that is portrayed via the body panel when the car is unlocked. The automaker ditched the conventional round style headlights in favour of the Matrix ones, which marks the brand’s entry into a new era.
At the back, the tail lights continue to feature the Union Jack motif, just like the current Minis. The same motif is positioned on the roof rack as well.
Rounding off the Concept Aceman’s distinctive exterior look are 20-inch wheels that look like spinning blades.
Getting inside, here the German automaker decided not to use any leather and utilises sustainable material to give the cabin a textural depth and visual appeal. It includes velvet velour, waffle weave, and embroidered X and O graphics.
Further, there is a sound bar-like dashboard housing minimal controls and an all-new round OLED screen based on the latest-gen Mini operating system. The display can project elements like outlined maps, images, and messages on the dashboard. There is also a large panoramic glass sunroof providing loads of light.
“The design language of the Mini Concept Aceman heralds the beginning of a new design era for Mini,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design. Although it’s new, the team has attempted to stay true to the design features that have historically made a Mini a Mini. “We are returning to these now, but at the same time consistently combining them with innovative technology. With this approach, we are redeveloping the Mini design icons, with all their analogue strengths, for the digital future.”
The live debut of the Mini Concept Aceman will be held at Gamescom 2022 in Germany. The production version of the concept is likely to hit the streets in the near future.
