MG ZS EV facelift arriving soon in Thailand, Will Malaysia be next?
KUALA LUMPUR: Back in October, the British-Chinese brand MG unveiled the latest version of the ZS electric vehicle in Europe. The upgraded EV hosts a number of cosmetic updates, new tech, and larger battery packs providing longer ranges. As per the recent report of Headlight Magazine, the facelifted version of the electric B-segment SUV is set to enter the Thailand market in March.

MG is expected to make its comeback in Malaysia this year with two offerings, one of them is a fully electric ZS and the other is HS.On the exterior, the SUV ditched the faux grille in favour of a body-colored panel having a patterned finish, which houses a charging port. The air dam design of the car gets a split in the centre for the ADAS sensors. Added to the changes are new LED headlights with arrow-shaped daytime running lights, cleaner front and rear bumpers with lesser body cladding, restyled tail lights, and new alloys with a more turbine-like design.
Inside the cabin, MG updated the EV by adding more hi-tech systems like a new digital instrument panel, a larger 10.1-inch infotainment unit, a Qi wireless charger, a new climate control panel, and iSmart connected car tech.
Included in the safety kit are advanced driver-assistance bits such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, active emergency braking, and blind-spot detection.
The new ZS EV comes in two forms, fitted with different battery packs. The base version has a 51-kWh battery offering a WLTP-certified range of 320 km (58 km more than the previous 44.5-kWh unit). The higher version, on the other hand, is equipped with a 72-kWh battery that gives away a cruising range of 440 km.
Upon using a 7-kW AC charger, the bigger battery takes 10 hours 30 minutes for a full charge, which can be reduced to just 42 minutes with a 100-kW DC fast charger.
