Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV debuts at MBFashionWeek KL 2024 - RM626k, cheaper, better range than EQS 580 but with same luxury

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the ongoing Mercedes-Benz Malaysia FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur 2024, the automaker has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV. This latest variant sits below the flagship EQS 580 4MATIC SUV but aims to bring a blend of luxury, performance, and advanced technology to a broader audience.

The EQS 450 4MATIC SUV is designed to accommodate up to seven passengers, offering a spacious interior that emphasizes comfort and utility. It features the MBUX Hyperscreen, a state-of-the-art digital interface that spans the dashboard, and rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to 10°, making it a standout in terms of technological innovation.

One of the key highlights is the vehicle's extended range, with the capability of covering up to 673 km on a single charge (WLTP) thanks to its 118 kWh battery. This range boost, combined with a powerful output of 360 hp and 800 Nm of torque, allows the EQS 450 4MATIC to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

The SUV is equipped with advanced safety and assistance features, including the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which provides comprehensive support for the driver through systems like Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist. It also comes with the URBAN GUARD Plus system for enhanced security, including an anti-theft alarm and emergency key deactivation.

On the charging front, the EQS 450 4MATIC is equipped with an AC charging capacity of up to 22 kW, enabling a full charge in approximately 6 hours and 15 minutes. For those in need of a quicker top-up, the DC fast charging option offers a 10%-80% charge in just 31 minutes.

The interior of the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV is a blend of luxury and functionality, featuring high-end materials such as nappa leather and open-pore magnolia wood trim. The SUV also includes features like a third row of seats, advanced climate control, and a Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience.

Externally, the vehicle sports the AMG Line design, with a Black Panel radiator grille, 22-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, and a panoramic sliding sunroof, making it as stylish on the outside as it is comfortable on the inside.

Priced at RM 625,888 (on the road, without insurance, including 10% sales tax), the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC SUV is set to hit the Malaysian market starting September 2024. The vehicle is positioned to appeal to those seeking a luxury electric SUV with the latest in automotive technology and design.
