KUALA LUMPUR: Just after a couple of days of teasing the all-electric EQA, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today launched the EV in full. The EQA is Mercedes-Benz’s first electric vehicle in Malaysia, fully imported from Germany.

    As an electric equivalent of the GLA, the EQA gets its energy from an electric propulsion system delivering a maximum power output of 190 PS and a peak torque of 370 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels of the EV allowing it to run from zero to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds. The top speed is rated at 160 kmph. 

    Mated with the e-motor is a 66.5 kWh battery pack that gives away a WLTP claimed range of around 402 – 429 km. As for charging, it takes 5 hours 45 minutes for a full charge when using an 11kW Type 2 AC charger. With a 100 kW DC charger, you can charge it up to 80% state of tune in almost 32 minutes.

    The EV’s battery is made up of five modules and it is located under the passenger compartment reducing the boot space to 340 litres i.e. 100 litres less than the GLA.

    In terms of aesthetics, Mercedes-Benz EQA looks distinctive to the internal combustion-powered SUV thanks to the covered EQ radiator grille, a single fibre optic light bar connecting the restyled headlights. The latter also features blue accents to highlight its EQA identity. Included in the AMG Line body kit are a sportier front bumper and a rear diffuser.

    Also part of the standard exterior kit is a full-width central rear light strip, hands-free powered boot, and 19-inch 5 twin-spoke light-alloy wheels

    Hop inside the new Mercedes-Benz EQA and you will be welcomed by a hi-tech luxury cabin that you may find similar to the GLA. It benefits from a twin 10.25-inch instrument and infotainment displays coupled with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, Mercedes me connected services, and telematics.
